Surveys that don't ask the questions you'd like

I've had to fill out a few lately (not eBay) mostly because of various customer service issues.

Today however I got one from a well known food takeaway/delivery company......probably because I haven't ordered from them for quite a while despite haveing racked up a good amount of loyalty points.  I was asked my opinion on possible new family sized meals packs.  As I usually am buying for one it seemed a bit pointless, but then again I have bought large meal deals from them when I'm expecting visitors so I thought: Why not?

Every suggested meal included at least one box of large chips.  Bigger meals had up to three boxes.  There were suggestions of including other side dishes but not substituting.  I like chips but the trouble is, their chips are DREADFUL.  I filled out the survey but the elephant in the room wasn't able to be addressed.

Dont you hate it when none of the options allow you to explain why, for instance, you were never going to buy the meal packs suggested.  Grrrr.

I won't complete a survey if the answers aren't able to fit me.
I find a lot of surveys have responses that do not fit my experience or desire.
They need more other response rather than pushing square pegs in round holes

I find a lot of them don't ask certain questions because they don't want to know the honest answer they know most people will give

The same where sites remove anything less than 4 or 5 stars out of 5

Cod and chips? Sounds alright.... I'll bring the beers... ha ha....

I had to fill out a survey about my TV watching habits, recently...

What channels, what time...

I was a little disappointed that they didn't have the option for "You do know that I spend maybe a fifth of my time Actually watching, and the rest of the time the TV's just background noise, don't you?", ha  ha.

🙂

I was waiting for the COD - go Ecar.

A good answer to most surveys - is :

' It Really Is None of Your Business '.

I get a lot of surveys from SBS.
I'm very picky on what I watch and usually only have to answer two questions.
Are you aware of show (insert name here)
Yes
Did you watch (insert name here)
No

TV programs are just background for me too.

One thing I come across with grocery shopping surveys are the questions on how often you shop.  Every Day, A Few Times a Week, Once a Week, Once a Month......  Theres never the option Once A Fortnight.  So many people get paid once a fortnight then buy the groceries.  It's just crazy that it's not an option.

I don't get asked to do many surveys.

I can understand that those who compose the survey can't think of everything.

So to my mind, the best surveys are those that have a last option under each question which says 'other' and where you can type in a different response.

It can be totally frustrating when a survey doesn't give you a chance to bring up critical info. I recall once doing a survey for Ancestry about their DNA test. I was rapt to be asked as I felt I had discovered a major weak point. That weak point affected every answer/score I gave on the survey. Every single one. But I felt frustrated at not being able to say why I was marking it down so low.

Then on the very last page, there was a spot for a general comment. So I made it. The point I objected to was all DNA results, when you compared them to someone else, either came up with yes you are a match or No, you are not a DNA match.

I wanted to point out the distress & confusion they could cause by saying No, you are not a DNA match, if in fact that other person had not even taken a DNA test.

I noticed that soon afterwards, they changed the wording to 'You are either not a DNA match or person X has not yet taken a DNA test.

So halleluia, a survey that at last took note of what a lot of customers said and let them make a general comment in the first place.

Amazing that someone listened re the DNA test.  I've rarely seen much (if any) difference to a service based on a survey.

I had one a few weeks ago because a utility company wants to phase out paper bills.  It started off OK asking how you wanted to receive your bills.....with paper still an option.  Then there were lots of other questions until one that set out how you wanted to receive your bills....where paper was not mentioned.  In fact it was written as though the decision had been made to phase them out and all you had to do was to opt for phone, email etc and now you just had to choose which option.  It doesn't take a genius to know if you answer that question you've just said 'No more paper bills thanks, I'll have this instead.'  Sneaky.

I realise that eventually the company will decide not to issue paper bills (probably sooner than later) but I had no intention of making it easy for them.  I didn't answer the question - instead I shut down the survey.
