Sydney's New Year's Eve fireworks to go ahead despite total fire ban

i dont see how fireworks on sydney harbour could cause any bushfires but i'm not in know.

however where i llive every new years eve we have people letting off fireworks they shoouldnt, its against the law.

now they certainly could start fires!

i recon letting off fireworks during summer when you know your breaking the law should be a big penalty!

plus pretty much every dog will be much happier!

Foo would hide and shiver for an hour or so every year!

And Adelaide, and Brisbane and Perth and Hobart and Melbourne and Darwin. The only capital that has cancelled is Canberra. Or is it only Sydney that counts in this scenario.

I know a lot of people around Batemans Bay were disappointed their fireworks were cancelled. It would have given them some distraction for a few minutes. Events have overtaken that, but the principle remains.

Yes, I know I tend to think Sydney is the centre of the universe, lol.

Still...I think I would had felt the same way about fireworks to celebrate when the rest of the country is burning, whatever capital city of any state I was living in.
