It’s surprising the odd things Tasmania produces... things like Lambie, Milne, Wee Willy Wilkie, everything Green, a lot of things that are sexually confused and everything that’s Left of centre.

This spooky little land of fairies, mushrooms and special frogs seems addicted to stopping stuff. It even got rid of all their Aborigines because they were rumoured to be lighting fires and eating goannas.

The last Tasmanian Aborigine, Truganini, was found stuffing the remains of the only goanna left down his gob, and now they’re both extinct.

It seems everything in the Land of Odd is either endangered, like the Tasmanian Blobfish (pictured) or it’s heritage-listed or it's extinct!

They found something else to stop recently... the biggest Salmon producing joint on the island called Tassal. You see, the environmentalists and ABC journos have accused Tassal of having too many fish in the ocean and they want it stopped.

Last I heard was that some trawler intended taking too many fish out of the ocean and they wanted that stopped too.

Tassal uses the ocean to grow salmon to table size in huge nets and they’re doing pretty well at it... too well apparently.

They are making an absolute motza from flogging these fish but apparently they have been discovered killing these poor little buggers the wrong way and smoking them. And that’s just not on!

But there is nothing that comes out of Tasmania that could possibly surprise me, that was until I noticed a little Arabic motif on my packet of Tassal smoked salmon that said, “halal certified”.

“WHAT I thought, as I raced to my little book of what Muslims mustn’t eat. And there is was: Buried among pork products and abused goats was, “fish without scales!”, I knew it was there somewhere.

Now I’ve hooked a few of salmon in my time and I’ve never seen one with scales, in fact they’ve all got skin like a well-oiled Kardashian butt and it’s as smooth as......... So how the hell did a salmon ever get on to a Muslim menu?

Very odd! I was intrigued and I kept having to remind myself that this was Tasmania. So I sent a list of questions to Tassal, pleading for an explanation.

“Dear Tassal,

 1 Is it true you have employed a group of halal licensed Muslims from the mainland who are each given a tube of Superglue and a box of fish scales?

 2 Is it true that when fish scales are in short supply it’s “halal okay” to use toenail clippings?

 3 Is there another group of halal licensed fishmongers further up the production line who then de-scale the salmon?

 4 When killing these poor little buggers are they facing Mecca via Asia or via the South Pole?”

George Pell did exactly that, and a hell of a lot more to cover up what was going on.

A classic case of promote and ship out of the country away from the police durastiction.

And we are supposed to look up to these people as pillars of society ????????

He should be jailed for what he did.

 Or the fact that I took it to the next stage. To "them", it is normal.

I am not adding any words to the meaning of prejudice. The definition above applies to Pickering 100%... Pickering is anti-gay, anti- Muslim the list goes on.. clear as day.  Have you even read many of his rantings on his site?

Oh, it gets even better, Debra. I have it on very good authority that the original name he cited  on his website was Tudawali. Someone must have had a word in his shell pink ear and pointed out that Tudawali didn't come from Tasmania - he was from the NT - so the article was hastily edidted to read Truganini instead Unfortunately either he didn't bother to change the gender of the personal pronoun, or he didn't know who Truganini actually was.

My sister lives in Tasmania.

Her name is Tudawali. or is it Truganini. or is it Jan (as in : not happy . . .)

I'm not happy that some people condemn others for their race, their skin colour or for the place where they are born.

But, I'm quite happy and comfortable to condemn others if they are racist or misogynistic or if they are religious nutters who condemn evryone else  if we refuse to believe in or to  share in their dismal delusions.

So, what am I?

What are ya?  . . . imagine me saying that while being "tired and emotional" and waving a glass in your face.

Not that I'd ever do that of course. But there are some people in our society who might . . . thank (insert deity of your choice . . . or Reason) that we didn't go down the American road and consecrate the "right" to go out  and about in society armed with guns.

We enshrine the right to expect from our fellow citizens that they will not go out armed to the teeth so that they can back up their arguments with bullets.

If you want to fight, then use your fists . . . but better by far is to use your brain and your intellect to not get into a situtaion where you wil have to fight in the first place.

Guns are for cowards and for dullards. Aggressive, paranoid, argumentative, insecure, sociopathic and very dangerous dullards who believe that "might is right".

And if you say that you need your guns . . . then think about why you think you need them and address the problems in your society which make you think that way.

Interesting that the OP claims Tassie got rid of the indigenous folks because they started fires and ate goannas...........yet the OP want to get rid of the Muslims because they wear burkhas and don't eat pork...........

*sigh*    the left just dont get any form of humour or a takeoff bit of writing at all.   But seems its had its desired result..... and that is the left dont get it and show yet again that they have no sense of humour.

No, they got rid of them because they "hunted them as a sport" and because they killed livestock, which is understandable.

I think the last hunt for Aboriginals was early last century, might have been as late as 1929.
