From 1 January 2015, all new claimants of Newstart Allowance and Youth Allowance (Other) who are under 30 years of age must demonstrate appropriate job search and participation in employment services support for six months before receiving payments

What will they live on for that 6 months?

My youngest son (18) just moved. He has been looking for work here while suffering depression. He was told by Centrelink at his new location that he must reapply...this last week.I think he has to come back home though his study and work opportunities are better where he is.

I will call him soon to make sure he is OK....

Funding is being increased for Headspace and other MI support services. How about steer him into that direction so he can stay independent.

People currently on payments are not imapcted for over 12 months and people on disability or other like payments are not impacted.

"Payment recipients who have a partial capacity to work, are the principal carer of a child, are part‑time apprentices, are in education or are job seekers in Disability Employment Services or Job Services Australia Streams 3 and 4 will be exempt."

well its not all bad news Woman LOL

Mining

  • The Government will provide $100 million over 4 years for minerals exploration, by giving small explorers not making any taxable income access to a refundable tax offset for their Australian shareholders.
  •  The Government has spared mining an increase in the diesel fuel excise. Currently commercial vehicles used in mining and agriculture get a rebate on the diesel fuel excise that drops it to six cents per litre. Before the budget there had been calls to raise this in line with the petrol fuel excise.
  • The budget also outlines $3.4 billion over the next three years from the abolition of the Minerals Resource Rent Tax.

I was not on a disability payment but was able to use a disability employment service. Commonwealth Rehabilitation Services (CRS) were brilliant and worked at getting me a job I could physically do.

Have a look into a service that specialises in helping people with a disability rather than the useless ones that the average person has to go to.

He will be fine..... let him work through it and just guide him into the right services. He will not need to come home.
