Take Your Medicine

You are sick.  You want to feel better.  You go to the effort of visiting a doctor.  You purchase the medicine.  You go home.    You get the glass of water ready.  You read the label directions. You free the medication from its container.  You look at it.  You gulp.  The tablet is still in your hand.  You are reluctant to swallow.  You might choke.

Does the throat literally constrict?

Why is it, that a male who can gulp their food, find it difficult to swallow a teeny tiny tablet?

I think it's because people try to swallow the tablet with the water.  It is a lot easier to swallow the tablet on it's own and then wash it down with water.  Otherwise you might gag.

I have to edit this.  We can't really have people swallowing tables.

Maybe pop it in a nice bit of juicy roast beef? Or if a vegetarian, nice roast vegies?

I used to break panadols in half or even quarters to swallow them. Its pretty uncommon for me to ever take medication though, even a panadol is a rarity.

My son who takes daily medication for his skin swallows them without water, I think he' just more used to it.

Personally, I can take a handful of tabs/vitamin capsules all at once.  I don't wince when needles are in sight or the knife when witnessing my sunspot/skin cancers being removed.   This is probably due to intensive care and procedures as a child.

It is the "macho man" who can't swallow.  He actually gags.  It is not dissimilar to trying to medicate an animal.Smiley Frustrated

I'll suggest he talk with his Doc, Mr Grizz.

Some people find it difficult to swallow pills because of their gag reflex.

It is real to him, nothing to do with macho man. As I said before I have similar problem. People are different.

My hubby swallows tab/capsules without waterSmiley Surprised

Me I use to have to break panadol up, take the power out of capsules and mix it with something................now, for some unknown reason I can swallow them whole, except for the vitimin tablet the dr. told me to buy, I have to break that in halves to swallow it.
