Tasmania's economy is a green labor basket case and the state is bankrupt and dependent on wealfare from the rest of Australia to survive.
An interesting article thats actually true about Tasmania written by David Leyonhjelm
Having once lived there, I know Tasmania is a pleasant place to live. But so is Greece. And if Tasmania was an independent country, it would be in more trouble than Greece.
There was quite a lot of discussion about this in 2013. A good summary came in an article by Jonathan West, director of the Australian Innovation Research Centre and a resident of Tasmania, who described the state as follow: “Tasmania ranks at the bottom among Australian states on virtually every dimension of economic, social, and cultural performance
Tasmania is also a mendicant state, highly reliant on the rest of the country. It generates about a third of its state budget, the rest being GST allocations and specific purpose payments from the commonwealth.
GST and income tax originating within the state fall well short of what it receives, meaning the government effectively receives welfare from the rest of the country.
When the NSW economy goes into recession, one of the consequences is less money for Tasmania.
This is on top of the higher proportions of welfare that Tasmanian individuals receive
The rest of the interesting article can be read here and its a very good read...... http://catallaxyfiles.com/2014/03/07/david-leyonhjelm-tasmania-a-province-of-victoria/
So should Tasmania become a province of Victoria?
That is if Victoraia would want a green/labor bankrupt basket case that is Tasmania as part of it

We cannot just give it to Indonesia, that would be frowned upon. They can pay for it in installments out of the foreign aid they receive from us.

Loved Andorra..

Tasmania could rival Andorra. there are already quite a few celebrities who go there on a Getaway Holiday where they can just be themselves without all the paparazzi

Do celebrities remember how to just be themselves?

I once made a post as if Tasmania was a separate country. I did that because every single one I've spoken to from there was always nice.

Most of the ones I have met can 🙂

That is nice.
Most of the ones I have met cannot, or chose not perhaps, but that would be under different circumstances.
