What happened to shooting metal sillouettes of animals?

I always enjoyed it and never had the urge to shoot something as majestic as a giraffe, much less travel to do it.

There was an awful one with an elephant someone posted on Facebook, but reading through the comments a few people said they had googled for more information and it was faked. I hope this one is too.
