Dr Jamal Rifi had an Opinion piece in one of this weekend's papers in Sydney.

I can't find it online - maybe a Subscription only piece.

A beautifully written piece in which he (Father of the Year 2015) pleads for more fathers to become  involved in the raising and guiding of their sons particularly in the matters relating to Friday's events.

MUMS and dads worried if their children are at risk of radicalisation should be able to seek help from an early-intervention team, a prominent Muslim community leader says.

DR Jamal Rifi is worried parents have little options besides police or the terrorism hotline when seeking help for their children.

On ABC radio on Monday he proposed a special assessment team, which could include a community or family leader, psychologists, youth workers and religious leaders.

NSW Labor MP Jihad Dib agrees intervention is needed to stop teenagers becoming radicalised.

After Friday's shooting of a NSW police force worker by a 15-year-old boy outside the Parramatta headquarters, the member for Lakemba said it was time to start looking at disengagement factors.

"Kids have always had a history of being disengaged ... but not to this extent. We've got to find ways to stop them. There's got to be an intervention," he told Sky News.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten says early intervention programs are long overdue.

"Having the police deal with the matter after it has happened is far less desirable than preventing it happening in the first place," he told reporters in Sydney.

Mr Shorten urged concerned parents to reach out for help.

If it was really religious rather than political and  all about killing unbelievers, then surely they would be targetting the clergy not the police.

Fellow students told Fairfax Media he never spoke openly about religion and was more concerned with playing basketball and joking around. It was only a few weeks ago that he was drawn into the extremist circle by the 16-year-old Wentworthville boy, one of Jabar's year 10 classmates at Arthur Phillip High School.

The pair regularly attended the same sessions at Parramatta Mosque and school lunchtime prayer groups.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named, was charged last year for driving past a Christian school in Harris Park, yelling death threats and waving an Islamic State flag.

For more details, John and Garry spoke to SMH Reporter Rachel Olding on 2UE Breakfast, before speaking to Simon Emsley, a Leichhardt Councillor who has previously worked as a refugee advocate in the Fairfield area. They discussed concerns about the thousands of refugees that will travel from the conflict in the Middle East and settle predominantly in western Sydney over the next 18 months.

Maybe if we pull out and leave the Russians to get on with it, we'll become the 'good guys' and the terrorists will concentrate on them.

Why does Archbishp Fischer of St Marys Cathederal and the Anglican Archbishop of Sydney who both want us to open our arms to the Muslim Refugees loose their voice then they kill innocent people in Sydney.  If it was a Judge or a Priest they may find their voice.

I hope they have offered free schooling at St Andrews Cathederal or St Marys Cathederal to the 16 year old boy who was arrested but relased on bail and free to go back to is Parramatta School.  They could also offer free schooling to the othe radicals at that school

as it is their duty to open their arms and give them free education, uniforms, excursions etc. Bishop Court the empty mansion owned by the Church who knocked back $25 million for it can house a couple of familes including this young boys to put him on the right track

rent free.
