If you wake on the morning of October 8, then you should consider yourself lucky – you survived a would-be apocalypse.
An American cult, the eBible Fellowship, had predicted with glee that October 7 would see the world "pass away" in a ball of fire.
This is despite an earlier deathly prediction that the world would end on May 21, 2011. In case you are aware, the world is still hanging around.
The Philadelphia-based group had come up with the prediction based on the interpretation of the Bible by its leader, Chris McCann. On its website, it's claimed October 7 this year would be the end of the world because it was when the world had reached "10,000 overall days of judgment" and also because it is the last day of the "Feast of Tabernacles".
Goodbye, I'll see some of you in heaven:)

The good thing is though, we do get snow every winter in the highlands here, and off we go to frolic in it. It even snowed quite heavily where we live this year, it was just wonderful.

PS >>>> the big plus is that each time I go back to the northern hemisphere (visit home), I always go in the winter and where the snow is deepest ...

2030? That's not really convenient for me.
It's just that the coin in the slot actuarial diviner machine at the mall (the one next to the mega claw "win a giant novelty stuffed toy! Try your skill, try your luck!" machine) told me I'd live until 2041, and I don't want to feel like I've wasted a whole dollar on a dud prediction.
fair enough.
those machines are usually spot on.

What? You didn't even get a free chocolate to go with such a genuine machine generated prediction? .....

Maybe I gave the chocolate to a pretty lady because I don't eat chocolate...
Maybe I'm just a big old flirt...

This week was the end of my world. Didn't notice anything else capsizing.

I'm sorry to hear that your world ended, but I'm very thankful to see that you're still here to brighten my world up.

If it's all the same, I'd prefer not to rely on apophis-rical* conjecture.
*(that's supposed to be a clever and witty play on 'apocryphal', but it doesn't look like it worked too well).
To (mis) quote Mark Twain: "Giving up smoking facing the apocalypse is the easiest thing in the world - I've done it hundreds of times."

The Big Bang Theory - Mid North Coast Rocked By Intergalactic Explosion.
I was winding down from work this morning in Macksville around 2:30am when I experienced an almighty explosion that rocked my warehouse and set the dogs into a panic. Apparently it was a meteorite that exploded on entry to Earth with the remains crashing into the Pacific Ocean.
Other eye witness accounts in the Port Macquarie area report seeing a 'Yellow fireball that appeared out of nowhere' & the sky being 'Lit up like a torch'. One eye witness said, "It's so strange though it was like someone was walking around the house with a torch before the bang happened then lights flashed into dads room after it".
Another account from Gladstone said, "Woke me up at 2.30 - thought it was a shotgun out front of house in the fields."
The explosion was heard from Ballina to Port Macquarie
