The Fall of the Australian Economy.......

I don't have sound, but did read some - if interested an article on the bigger picture -

Capitalism, wages and exploitation
The crisis is leading to an increase in the level of exploitation and to an ever-widening gap between the super-rich and the impoverished masses. The question for workers is whether to confine themselves to a struggle for a slightly larger share of the wealth they have created under conditions of capitalism or to establish a system that does away with such contradictions altogether.
The intensification of capitalist crisis in the past decade has brought the working class face to face with a direct assault on its living conditions, social gains and wage levels. The International Labour Organisation (ILO)’s Global Wage Report 2012-13 throws light on the differential impact of the recession on wage levels in different parts of the world, and attempts to point the way forward for more equitable growth in the future.

The Fall of the Australian Economy.......

Communism? Capitalism? I see your point and appreciate your link I am more concerned about how the mainstream pollies and media here are trying to distract us from 'seeing' what is happening to our Australian economy....and why. I realise that we are affected to some degree as a result of global affairs but EVERYDAY economics here......it is appalling what and how much is being ripped off from this land and peoples......is is disgusting.

The Fall of the Australian Economy.......

The Federal Government seem intent on cutting funds from every where and anywhere that plays a role in defending the disadvantaged or protecting our environment, below are just some examples of the cuts already, certainly is a pattern there. below is just a sample so far...............

''The Abbott government has just created huge uncertainty in a fragile economy - people are absolutely livid,'' Rob Murray-Leach, chief executive of the Energy Efficiency Council, said. ''The government haven't scrapped the Energy Efficiency Opportunities program because it's legislated, but they've cut funding to administer the program after June 2014. People are confused and very, very angry.''

The government has also cut $6.7 million from the Caring for our Country program - which grants money to conservation projects - to help fund its royal commission into the Rudd government's home insulation scheme.

The budget outlook also confirms an expected cut to the Australian Renewable Energy Agency including a $40 million cut this financial year. The Coalition will also wind up the Low Carbon Communities program, which provides grants to local councils and other groups to make energy efficiency upgrades to community buildings.

* Indigenous Legal Aid - cut 13.4 million over the next 4 years.

*Multicultural grants scheme - cut

*Australia's Official Aid Prog. cut $650 million.

*12,000 Public Service jobs to be cut.

*Renewable energy bonus scheme - cut

*A total of $43.1 million to be cut from "Legal policy reform and advocacy funding over the next 4 years.

*Funding cuts to the Better Access initiative have been rigorously opposed by the Australian Psychological Society. The redirection of funds to other programs has left many thousands of Australians with moderate to severe mental health problems without access to the appropriate length of effective treatment.

*In the area of health, Westmead Children's Hospital will lose $100 million in funding for the first stage of a comprehensive redevelopment, while the Children's Medical Research Institute will lose $10 million and the Millennium Institute will lose $12 million.

The Fall of the Australian Economy.......

I am just waiting to see how long it will take for the Pollies to agree on a salary increase. There will be no squabbling about it, like usual they will all be in agreement. Labor, Liberal, Greens and Independants.

Same as Banks and mega corporations claim to loose on profit, but give their CEOs million Dollar bonuses as reward.

The whole financial world stinks, and only the average hard working people suffer for the Fat Cats to feather their nest.

The Fall of the Australian Economy.......

some more cuts and doubt from our wonderful, caring government -

*The Australian War Memorial will have to shed jobs even as it stages commemorations for the centenary of Anzac, if the federal government does not relent on squeezing the iconic cultural institution with a higher efficiency dividend.

Director Brendan Nelson broke the news to staff at a briefing in which he said the memorial would have to cut back services in the face of losing $3 million in funding over the next three years.

It is understood Dr Nelson is shocked by the cuts soon after the Department of Finance concluded the memorial was underfunded, and subsequently boosted funding.

*Ongoing funding for Australia’s national and state volunteer peak bodies is set to end on June 30 without any future funding commitments from the Coalition Government, putting programs and workforce planning in doubt.

The Federal Coalition Government is yet to announce any ongoing funding arrangements for the Volunteer peak bodies that oversee more than an estimated 6.2 million volunteers across Australia.

Volunteering Australia said the national peak body operation, seven state and territory peak bodies and 11 metropolitan volunteer resource centres were under threat because of the funding uncertainty.

Volunteering Australia’s new CEO Brett Williamson said volunteer funding has been moved from the Department of Prime Minister to the Department of Social Services under the new Coalition Government.

“We have not be able to meet with the Minister but have spoken to his advisor who tells us that that everything is still under review and we will find out in due course.

“This is not effective or efficient when we are talking about future planning, programs and services as well as workforce planning beyond June,” Williamson said.

“It’s unbelievable that we can’t get funding confirmation for something that is so intrinsically in the Australian culture - volunteering.
