Tomorrow marks 100 days since the election.

I want to update you on the progress that the Coalition Government has made in implementing our Plan to build a strong, prosperous economy and a safe, secure Australia.

We are purposefully, carefully and methodically putting in place policies to help families by reducing their cost-of-living pressures, improving job security, encouraging small business and delivering better services.

As you will see, the Government is keeping its commitments and implementing the plan we took to the election.

We are the Government that will scrap the Carbon Tax, end the waste, get the Budget back under control, stop the boats and build the infrastructure of the 21st century.

These are the practical measures that will help our country get ahead – as well as help you and your family plan your future with confidence.

My pledge is that we will not let up in 2014: every day we will keep building the stronger country that all Australians want and deserve.

List fail.

I like the list Bill Shorten posted on twitter this afternoon. I'd show you, but I can't post pics.

As said - I don't have to add anything as he said it all, so on with the job Tony and don't pass go or collect $200 just keep playing the game and building Australia up again to where it was before this past government cut the legs off.

I will have a look at Bill Shortens twitter but I know it will be trash talk and negitive rubbish.

Keep it nice, I might cry if you write anything upsetting (like not)

Basarnas accused of receiving illegal funding from Australia

The Jakarta Post, Jakarta | National | Sun, September 29 2013, 4:23 PM
National News

The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has allegedly been receiving illegal funds from the Australian government with regard to the handling of refugees and asylum seekers from the Middle East.

“It is presumed that Basarnas has received illegal funds from and worked for the Australian government to bring asylum seekers and refugees from the Middle East ashore in Indonesia,” said Hikmahanto Juwana, a professor of international law from the University of Indonesia’s School of Law, in Jakarta on Sunday, as quoted by Antara news agency.

Earlier, 21 undocumented immigrants from Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and several African countries died after their vessel sank off Cikole beach in Kampung Genggong, Agrabinta district, Cianjur, on Friday, apparently while en route to Australia. Twenty four migrants who survived the sinking are currently being accommodated at the Hotel Sarah in Sukabumi.

Hikmahanto alleged that Basarnas as a government institution had become “a paid agent” tasked with handling Australian problems. He said the entire process starting from the discovery of the Middle Eastern migrants to their handover by the Australian Navy to Basarnas was very questionable.

“What a stupid thing for Basarnas to accept the refugees and asylum seekers from the Australian Navy under the pretext that they were found in Indonesian waters. It reflects stupidity, not hospitality,” said Hikmahanto.

He said the agency’s decision to accept the migrants would be understandable only if the people concerned were Indonesians.

Hikmahanto said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono should seek clarification from Basarnas on the issue and the House of Representatives had to summon the agency for an explanation.

The Corruption Eradication Commission should investigate the possible transfer of illegal funds from the Australian government to Basarnas if necessary,” he said. (ebf)

The Federal Government has confirmed the National Disability Insurance Scheme may be targeted in the search for budget savings.

The Coalition's Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook yesterday revealed that the economy is in dire trouble with a deficit blowout of $47 billion.

Coalition breaks silence on sunk boat after Tony Abbott flees reporters after asylum seekers drown on way to Australia

Australian Government officials in Jakarta are seeking additional information from their Indonesian counterparts, including seeking to confirm where the vessel foundered. It is believed to have gone down in Indonesian territory."

He said Australian authorities would continue to provide whatever help was required by the Indonesian government but could not say what assistance was currently being offered.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Tony Abbott ignored reporters seeking information on up to 90 deaths after an asylum boat sank off the coast of Indonesia.

Up to 70 asylum seekers are still missing, feared drowned, after their boat broke up and sank en route to Australia.

At least 22 people, mostly children, are confirmed drowned after the boat, which was believed to be carrying about 120 passengers, struck rough seas on Friday off the coast of Java.

Immigration Minister Scott Morrison’s office did not respond to questions until tonight.

The Coalition has applied a media blackout on regular reporting of asylum seeker arrivals and the actions of Australian authorities with a gag extending to rescuers at the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

Acting Labor leader Chris Bowen this morning called on the government to provide a full briefing.

“There are very concerning reports of another tragedy in Indonesia,” Mr Bowen said.

“It appears that the Royal Australian Navy may have been involved in two rescues, although of course details are very, very sketchy.

On last night's 7.30 program, Mr Hockey warned there would be "no free lunches" from the Government.

"Spending reform will inevitably require difficult choices about the policies that Australians need now and in the years to come," he said.

"Australians will have to adjust their expectations of what government can sustainably provide otherwise our nation's prosperity and our people's quality of life will be at risk."

Net debt is forecast to be $191.5 billion in 2013-14 and reach $280 billion in 2016-17.

The Government says budget blowout is due to "essential steps" it had to take, which include an $8.8 billion grant to the Reserve Bank and an extra $1.2 billion to pay for offshore asylum seeker processing.

The Government was unable to abolish the Gonski school funding agreements last month after protests from the states and territories.

But it now says that training centres, mostly based in high schools, will be scrapped to contribute $1 billion to Gonski.

How about "no free lunches" for the Government.

and pollies can adjust their expectations of increases in their entitlements and income?

they are in the right class apparently

it seems the it's only when our tax money goes where it's most needed (as intended) that using it and receiving it is seen as undeserving, unnecessary and a waste ...it's a backward kind of  forward thinking imo

They should be hung if they change or abandon the national disability scheme, yet still manage to afford the paid parental leave for the rich.

The libs have always only been for the rich and they only got in thanks to the fools who like to think they are rich enough to need them,

Labor kept the country in work and the economy going during the worlds worst times since the depression.

All the business about our debt is crazy, governments are not suppose to save money they are suppose to spend it to make lives better for people living here which is what labor did,

Anyway all you would be rich people good luck to you as you will now reap what you sewed. Smiley LOL
