HELP!!! We are being monstered by a gang of magpies. We made the mistake of feeding them – now they hang around our deck andstrut up and down on the paving outside the front door demanding attention. They sit on the window ledge, peer in through the windows and, if we are slow to respond, tap on the glass to hurry us up-. Worse still, I think word has got around - there was a hopeful looking crow on our front porch this morning!.
Actually we rather love them - the boldest ones perch on the chair backs of our outdoor setting and eat out of my hand.

Oh lucky you She Ele...I love magpies...They are talkative little creatures aren't they.
We have a family that eats side by side with our dog

In a local park where I walk my dogs there are a few Magpie Larks. I started feeding one a couple of years ago and now it picks me out whenever I am there. It will even feed from my hand (dogs permitting), and if I do not notice the bird it makes sure I do with a few loud squawks, so I have named her Billie!

I love the magpies, this was our little family last year, we could hand feed them as well

The big plus side, they get to know you personally, and won't swoop you during breeding season.
