yep Tibrogargan is a big one...Beerburrum and Crook Neck. All pretty impressive. If we walk out and stand in the middle of our road we can see Crook Neck....not that we do it all that often:^O

Just love it here...so close to everything, but also so quiet.
Next time you're passing through Illicit....let us know and you can stop in and have a coffee. as I said. 2 mins off the Bruce

Just might take you up on that offer gill.

The only thing I dislike about Gympie, well the area where our home is situated, is the mobile phone reception...there is none, we actually do have to go up into the middle of the road to make a phone call, but the likelihood of being hit by a car is extremely minimal.

Sorry to hear of your frustration Puts, I hope he could fix your oven today. I do remember ages ago you were thinking of moving or downsizing.

Puts & MissL have you thought about the 'grey army" from what I've heard they are retired trades people & I would hope, would not charge through the nose.

Yes, Debra, I have, and, if we were getting any help at all, to stay here, we would. We would need to ramp the house because we have 4 steps, we would need to put a disabled bathroom in as well. Hubby's health has deteriorated to the point where he does very little, I am stuggling to care for him and the house, and the lawns, something has to give. A unit with no steps or garden and lawn would be so much easier for me to look after.

We appear to have fallen through the cracks so to speak, we don't qualify for anything. Hubby is on a transplant list. but, that means nothing. I am his full time carer, that, also means nothing.

missllinda sorry to hear you are being so badly treated by the system.

The only other thing that may get some help is to say you will need to put him into care if you dont get help.
Its funny what they can find when its going t cost the system even more

it seems unfair that you don't qualify for help MissL especially when you've paid taxes all your life.

Good luck with your hubby's transplant, I hope it happens soon

hi all, just a quick update.

got the new fan in the oven Yippeeeeee

but

repairman had to take the over door off and to the workshop, wont have it for a few days. He was a really nice bloke and Im v. happy.

we pay a lawnmower man now, every 3 weeks, keeps that bit under control.

unfortunately Linda, Vic will only move close or closer to his hospital.... expensive areas, and I want NEW or pretty damn near new, less reno work down the line.;-)

Debra I did not mean to mislead you. Hubby does not need a new liver right now, but, as a patient of Prof Angus at the Austin, he is on the transplant list. He may never need one, he is holding his own at the moment, or, he could need it tomorrow. Lot of ifs and buts where hubby is concerned.

I would never have asked for any help, but, these hospital folk kept saying we should be having this and that, so I applied. I can't even think about putting him into care, hope it never comes to that.

Lyndel we should be able to sell here and buy something about the same age as our house, without dipping into savings, wel, ideally, that's the plan, haha

I have a friend in Melbourne that sold their home and bought in a retirement village, they have independance but, are close when they need assistance. It is beautiful.

MissL I wasnt suggesting you do so, only make noises along those lines because they will do all sorts for you to keep him at home.
