"This is for the Senior members of CS, those born before 1947. Baby Boomers and Generations X & Y are welcome providing you are over 18 🙂
But this is definitely for people who are facing the last long haul. We have survived babyhood, childhood, being teens and twenties... We have learned to read and write, to drive, have probably been married and the women have survived child birth.
The challenges are constant and the near misses of death are also there. If we have become a senior we have learned to survive so much, and along the way we have, of course, gathered a great deal of knowledge about life.
The belief that age diminishes us is not true, it changes us and not all of it is bad. Yes there can be various forms of dementia for some, but that is also a disease that can happen in younger people. Alzheimer's can also occur - it is another form of dementia and generally occurs in people over 65, although that can occur much earlier too and not everyone is going to get it.
Most of us keep our mental alertness up to the moment of death, even if we lose our hearing and our eyesight, but of course this can happen at any age too.
What changes is our physical strength, which diminishes but our mental strength and patience grows, it has to of course, to deal with this aging thing.
Arthritis, heart trouble, strokes - all these things associated with age can happen at any time in your life - arthritis can happen when you are a child but they don't like giving out new hips and knees until you are in your 50s and 60s or later. We can talk about that too.
Cancer can happen any time and that is also something we can discuss here if you like.
The point of this thread is to give the Seniors a chance to talk about how they are coping with age, the challenges it presents and the fears that can come with it... loss of hearing or sight, aging spouses, living alone, retirement villages, even death...
So I will ask that the Juniors treat us in kindly fashion and remember, all this is going to happen to you too - providing you avoid death before you get here 🙂
So, onward and upward. Let's go...."

Don't worry my beani boo, I'm fine and no, I know about blood clots and I don't have one. Most of it is nerves and stress with finding a house I want to buy and having to sell this one first.
That sounds silly but I think you would understand.
If it settles on my chest and I get a secondary infection I will be off to the doctor in a flash, but it is much better today and I think it will pass.
🙂
Yes I do understand 🙂
Remember how sick I got last year when we were moving interstate? Its always more stressful than you think because there are endless details to remember and dead lines and things to sort out and.... it doesnt end.
Thats a big move for you and a sad one but you are smart to think of you future now.

Sending my hello's to everyone :-x
I am turning in...to watch telly in bed...mckool is in bliss with the footy on... I am making myself scarce. He walked Shatzi at half time or quarter time or whatever you call it....LOL
I should be working lately but cant be bothered. It can wait. SO I am mucking around instead and I will NOT repent at ALL.. 🙂
I really should visit mum and dad again tomorrow.... I have to give dad his shot glasses. He makes his own liquor... and being 80 yrs old he is suddenly dropping glass after glass...he has gone through whole sets...so all of us have bought him more glasses.
You can get good ones at the oppies but I got a six pack set for only $2 at the discount shoppe.
Okay, bed awaits me...or maybe instead of watching telly I can pick up one of the MANY books I have bought and actually go about getting the pile down and reading them.
Have a good one!!!
🙂

I love the house gil, that's the problem... 😞 I have to wait to sell and the only hope I have that it will still be there is that it's been on the market for 8 months with no offers...

Hello Beani Boo, well it's official from the chemist - I have the 100 day cough 😞
I have had it a week, so that leave 93 days to go... sigh :_|
Yes, you are right, I haven't had even a cold for 10 years and now this, it's the stress, although I have to admit I am nowhere near as stressed as I could be, I have a firm feeling everything will fall into place with little effort from me.
Yesterday I emailed my mower man to ask if he could send one of his men around to help me clear out the double garage. They have big rubbish trailers so I can throw lots of stuff into that and he can help with the sweeping and moving stuff, as I will avoid breathing in dust.
He can also put the X fridge into the tailer to go to the tip too.
I hope Shatzi understood it was only a half/quarter time walk. Did McKool point this out?
No, never repend from a good mucking around day, I never do and the older I get the more mucking around days I have :^O
Time you read a book girl... you can't just keep getting them and piling them up beside your bed so they look pretty, you are meant to read 'em too 🙂
Hope today is a good one for you too xx

Good work darki 🙂 get the men to do it all.
Sorry about the 100 day cough...what a mongrel it is...I had similar last year and two years ago... stress and ill health related in that order. So I know what you are going through..it can be exhausting. Esp if you dont sleep well.
ha ha ha about shatzi....she only knows its WALKIES..she doesnt care about the rest.
You will be happy to know I read two books last night and one this morning. The only trouble with being such a fast reader is you never get to savor a book... its over too fast. Still at least the pile by the bed is going down now. They look pretty in my bookcase in the bedroom too.... I have a few there I havent read. I must do it and then I can resell what I dont want.
I am on a historical kick at the moment.
We are going out for lunch today... I hope we are ...if I can get us a table.
See ya later, have a good one
🙂

Beani if you are on an historical kick at present then try Elizabeth Chadwick's novels...
Start with 'A Place Beyond Courage' about John Marshal in the late 1100s
Then go on to his son William Marshal in 'The Greatest Knight' and go on to 'The Scarlet Lion'... you will love the books.
Elizabeth researches each novel intensely and is a member of Regia Angorum which is a Mediaevil re enactment society with emphasis on the authenticity.
She has written many other, but I haven't yet read them... you can Google her...

Yes I am getting the men to do a lot of the work and I am also going to, this time, get packers in. I did it myself the last three times but I was a lot younger then... not this time... I am officially retired!!! :^O
Yes, I thought you'd had this or some sort of cough, it's the pits isn't it. I have spent this last few days just staying warm and quiet and trying to beat it. I think it is better than it was, so that's good.
Hope you enjoyed lunch 🙂
