The campaign against IS (Islamic State)

My littlest baby daughter flew out yesterday to join the rest of the ADF contingent in the Middle East Robot Sad

It just got me thinking about the level of media interest in this "campaign" (or whatever it's called, I'm sure it hasn't been classified as a war) - apart from a flurry of interest when it first happened, and bits and bobs here and there since, it seems to have been pretty quite on the media front.

Or am I missing something/not looking hard enough ?

Thanks freddie and debra Heart

Although you know they are not at high risk, there's always that element of doubt Robot Frustrated  She will miss Christmas with family but that's all part of the conditions.

Thinking of you.  I hope she has a safe trip and is back sooner rather than later.

Frankly, I would rather have the troop movements kept a bit quiet.  They are still going to enemy territory and I think it is better to have a bit of an element of surprise rather than have them arrive to a fanfare of news reports.

Back in the days of the Vietnam War the newspapers were plastered with the troop movements, including the movements of Navy ships....their movents were announced every day in the Shipping News.  But the mail leaving the ships was censored...go figure.

We could read where are loved ones were in the newspapers, but they could not tell us where they HAD been, let alone where they were going in lettere home.

Blessed are the cracked, for they are the ones who let in the light.

It might be simply that the lack of media reporting has something to do with the new bills introduced in 2013 and this year.

Hope your daughter is in and out quickly and safely.
