Whilst I agree with the sentiment that it is not a lie if you genuinly believe it, he has shown himself not to believe his own lies - recall his apology to Indonesia?

That means he lies in order to fool people.

Not acceptable.

DY,  a speculation can not be a "fib" until the speculative event, or time,  has occurred, unless of course you wish to write a daily Cycloptic thread,  and are prepared to overlook in general terms, English grammar!

Excerpt from article
"The claim that electricity and gas prices will drop by 9 and 7 per cent respectively from where they are today if the carbon tax is abolished is impossible to predict with precision."
Thus it is impossible to claim now that Abbott is  "fibbing"

Love this convolution from the article:
" Power prices may well continue to increase, though by about 7 to 9 per cent less than they otherwise would."

Wonderful: "7 to 9 per cent less than they otherwise would"

so power prices will drop ? it doesn't take a PM to know thats a false claim, especially as he has no say in electricity pricing.

its simply a matter of time, then he's definitely telling lies.

I suspect people will expect to see their quarterly power bills to drop substantially should the carbon tax be repealed. They're going to be disappointed.
