Thin Privilege vs Fat acceptance

A couple of terms that seem to be bandied around lately.  Whats your opinion, do you think such a thing a thin privilege exists? Is fat acceptance healthy?

Fat acceptance is never healthy. Obesity is a killer and is just as bad healthwise as smoking.

I feel sorry for obese people, it's not easy to stop the bad habits but it can be done. Thin privilege? what is that exactly?. Now the mindset of entitlement that's another thing.

Obesity is a drain on the health system just like smoking. It's a lifestyle that is never acceptable.

There are lucky people who can eat and eat and eat

Anything they like and never put on an ounce of fat

That's a privilege

And there are other unfortunates who put on weight

Just by walking paSt a cake shop

That's a privilege to the owner of the cake shop

What ever way you look at things

There are always two sides to a coin

Some people hate being fat and spend their whole life trying

To lose weight

Some people hate being thin and spend their whole life trying

To put it on

Some people are happy being fat

And others are so unhappy they just get fatter

Some examples of thin privilege would be:

You’re not assumed to be unhealthy just because of your size, or When you’re at the grocery store, people don’t comment on the food selection in your cart in the name of “trying to be helpful.” Airlines won’t charge you extra to fly.

Stuff like that.

commenting on what food you buy is just plain rude and only shows that the commentor is a bogun.

Do they actually charge extra because a person is overweight? I thought they only charged more if the person needed 2 seats, that doesnt really equate to an thin people getting a privelege. In fact if they didnt charge for the extra seat if would equate to the overweight person getting a privelege.

I think you're stretching a bit with that one.

And honestly, how many overweight people are harrassed in the supermarket for their trolley contents? I've never seen that happen. I admit I'm a bit judgmental of people with trolleys full of soft drinks and junk food and they have little kids in tow, I'd never say anything though and its nothing to do with the size of the person, its what they are inflicting on their kids. Plenty of thin/average sized people have really poor diets.
