African greys have the cognitive ability akin to a 2 year old on average, it takes decades to train to that level and requires almost 24/7 care and training.
They take words beyond mimicking and can put the words in context.
I would love t have one, but its way to much training for me. They are easily bored and get destructive if they get bored

yep they both do, the budgie picks up everything we teach the ringneck and the ringneck says his name, hello, and good boy so far
the budgie has quite a good vocabulary but wont say his name

I went to someone's place once, doorknocking, can't remember what for, and their little ringneck in a cage on the verandah said "hello *rsehole"
