Mental health days are for morons, says Calare Public School principal Christian Cundy

I thought it was a send up when I saw it but apparently not 😞 NSW school. I suspect he needs a mental health day to see a professional.

Wow.  This man made a foolish decision to write these words.

Because I couldn't access the above link, I googled the school name and came upon another news release from 8 August, where schools in the area went into lockdown.  There is stress in the whole area.  And people can and do make poor judgements when stressed.  

I think a break for him is necessary at this time.  Imagine the additional stress he will be put under right now, being the "face" of education and the need for a story by all the media.  

Principals are special people.  They don't contemplate taking on that position lightly.  

Have a rest, Sir.  See you back at school when it is the right time.

I can understand his thoughts to a degree, however he has bunched them all in the same category and commented in a very unprofessional way.

I understand that, I had guests today for lunch and we discussed this topic, it seems that this is the kind of thing that might be discussed and said in a small group of friends or colleagues, in a light hearted manner, however, general consensus is that putting it out there as he did, is very unprofessional and not funny at all.

I can't think for a minute that he would think all of his staff would find it funny.

I agree LL you pointed out in your post and I support, the poor man is obviously making poor judgements because he is under severe stress.

Some people could not possibly understand as they have not worked as a professional in a professional environment and been under stress in their work environment in a position where they have to lead by example too......

or worked so hard that they are overworked and stressed and unable to make all good decisions ?.....

....having a real job in a really professional environment is no picnic - not even like holding an informal luncheon

Respect where respect is due IMO.

I dip my hat to ALL school principals....AND especially the Deputy principals out there! geez they earn their money.

seriously? that was nothing of import and not a dig, not bullying in any way, merely to say I was not continuing the posting for now as I had an appointment and then guests coming. I returned to read the replies on the thread after they left.

I have no reason to be rude to you, nor bully you. You have a right to your opinion and I respect that, sorry you thought it was personal.
