'This will show them'

PAEDOPHILE Dennis Ferguson chose to end his own life by suddenly stopping his diabetes medication, telling supporters he blamed police for making his life a living hell.

"This will show them," Australia's most notorious sex offender said in the days before he died at his Surry Hills flat, a Department of Housing property on Poplar Ave, a stone's throw from Sydney Grammar and other schools and childcare centres. His body laid undiscovered for several days before being found last Sunday.

Ferguson's biggest advocate, the Justice Action group campaigner Brett Collins, says police continuously "undermined" the 64-year-old's efforts to redeem himself and tipped off media about his whereabouts on at least two occasions.

"He said to people (when he stopped taking insulin), 'That will show them'," Mr Collins said.

"What we're saying is Dennis Ferguson was killed by the police."

Me, Az?

I'm actually trying to support your idea instead of attacking it like others have.

I think it has merit, though as you say, there are a lot of details that need to be fleshed out - I was just trying to discuss with you what details they may be.

Personally, I am not adverse to the death penalty for several different crimes, and this is one of them.

However, as that is unlikely to be a penalty in this country, I was looking at alternatives, and yours seems like a good idea on the surface.

Some people can go their whole lives and never really live for a single minute.

Thanks Crikey, I don't feel attacked, lol.

I just can't see that hounding a man to his death is a good thing, it caused so much trouble for so many people. charges laid, court proceedings......public demos.

I am not attacking az's idea either. I have an opposing view, I don't think it would work (if it was doable it would have been done years ago, here and in other countries).

There is an island prison in Norway (Bastoy), where the prisoners live in cute cottages, they aren't locked in, no armed

guards or fences. The idea is that prisons are to change people.

QLd - tracking offenders that breach release conditions

THE state's most dangerous sex offenders are being caught breaching strict release conditions as prison bosses hail new GPS tracking devices as a success.

I think the success they have had at tracing offenders who breach their release conditions is a good step forward.

Not going to happen az.. you can prove me wrong in the future if you like.

It reminds me of England sending their petty crims to Australian penal colonies.

There have been generations of people living on Christmas Island, - what are you going to do with them - force them to move to the mainland?

Most habitable islands, already have people living on them.

So he was hounded, eh!

Diddums!

How many children now live a life sentence, of having to deal with appalling memories of his disgusting deviancy.

He should have thought of that before he relieved his urges by his attacks on young innocents.

He should have thought that his disgusting body was not at all appealing to the children he was molesting!
