I love raspberries.
My last trifle was made with raspberries and fresh berries but why are they so expensive at Christmas?

That quinoa recipe sounds good Pollsyd. I'm keeping that one.
Katy, I'm a bit stuck on other chicken soups. Does it have to be with pieces of chicken in it or can it just be based on chicken stock?
One of my favourites is chicken and sweetcorn soup but that is not a chunky one it is very liquid and also a potato and pea soup which is quite thick but more smooth than chunky.
There is always chicken minestrone but that is really just chicken and veg with some cannellini beans thrown in.
I went to my sisters for morning coffee and guess what her daughter had brought around to share. Banana bread!

That looks very nice Katy. It's funny because I have a recipe book just for soups but I tend to make just the same two or three over and over again.
There is a yummy looking bouillabaisse recipe that I have been meaning to try.... for about the last ten years lol.

Guess what I made today Soulart. See photo thread.
It is sOOOoooo good. Thank you for that. You are quite right too. I don't think I will have to worry about how long it can be kept in the fridge. It will go well with so many things 🙂

Polly, this was our hotel:

Over the road was an Italian restaurant/cafeteria with an attached patisserie/gelato place (details are foggy after all these years). And, I think a little further down (away from the hotel was the pizzeria).
I think this was it:

Like I said, we never tried it ... but we did try the above cafe/restaurant. We ordered antipasto (huge and amazing), a pizza, and something else. Absolutely awesome food.
Oh you stayed in Little Italy! It's nice down there. The Italian restaurant with the attached shop sounds like the place I went to a few years back. Very good food. The pizza place is a little further away from the theatre than I want, but I'll have to give it a try sometime. Thanks for the link. Did you happen to visit Old Town while you were there? If not, you should try to hit it. I think you would love it. Several great authentic Mexican restaurants and plenty of shops. Plus there's the old "haunted" Whaley house built in the 1850's. Lloyd and I took the guided tour a couple of years ago when my BIL and SIL were out here visiting.....we had fun. Although we weren't lucky enough to get to see any of the many ghosts rumored to be living there. : )
Anyway, if you haven't been there yet, you should check it out next time you come to San Diego. If nothing else but for the Mexican food. You won't be disappointed. Plus Balboa park. Tons of museums, the San Diego Zoo, and gardens down there. I think you'd like that too.
Joono.....I think you'll really like that quinoa dish. : )

But nothing will help me, unless one of you will actually come and cook for me

The kids really didn't like it. Me either!!
The mistake she made was 'sherry' - she shoulda used rum, you can never have too much RUM!

Sin, I'm making your chicken and bacon pasta bake tonight. I thought it would be good for a nice relaxing Sunday evening.
I even went out and bought real parmesan cheese to grate rather than that fake one in a shaker 😄 I think I am going to add some little button mushrooms too. I'll let you know what I think.
