Chuk I will look in NZ for you. I once scored a heap of troll dolls in a op in various sizes, sold them all.
Is there any makers mark you want me to look for.

I would be your best friend if you ever found the historical smurfs especially Thomas edison in mint or near mint
Or the rest of the gold cord smurfs or original buildings. They are all super rare though
I use to buy from germany but even sellers there are not doing much these days *sigh
edit to say, they are also super expensive too 😞

I found this same book in an op shop about 5 years ago, I've never tried to sell it but have seen it online for between hundreds up to thousands of dollars. Never seen one sell on ebay though.

Good pick up Cosmo--other lookers would have pushed the book aside.
Missed a good book a few years ago-was in an oppo for years.
Think the title was ...Birds of Britain.
Had a look-thought it was on real birds--it was a book on female pop singers-
Cilla Black-Dusty Springfield etc-didnt think it was worth anything.
Then saw one on here for a few hundred dollars-went back and it was gone.........Richo.

I quite enjoy having a browse through op shops, mainly because you never know what you are going to see.
I also used to go to garage sales every week with my sister & a friend. We would start off with our coffee in those travel mugs, pick up lots of little bits and pieces, some of which we kept, some we bought to sell on ebay. Used to have a ball together. It was just a hobby but we did make a few thousand dollars over the time.
I can't say we ever made any amazing profits from our finds, although.. there was one time a woman sold us some high heel shoes. They were new, had only been worn on a catwalk and were an exclusive American brand, so we were told, and very expensive in the states.
We had never heard of them, obviously none of the Aussie ebay customers had either (there wasn't much international buying and selling back then on ebay, it was the days before paypal). I think we onsold them for about $15, after paying $10.
My sister tells me that brand of shoe is now fetching in the hundreds.
That is typical of my sort of luck, let me add.
These days I mainly shop for books. The local op shop sells paperbacks at 50c & I love to go in, spend a couple of dollars, then I just drop them back when I have finished with them.

A few years back, a seller on the Collectors boards bought an ugly looking vase for $5.- and was hoping to get $50.- on eBay. Well, the bids started running, and she told us to have a look at this item. We were all cheering when she sold it to an OS buyer for over $5,000.-, and she did not even have to pack and send it. The buyer sent an Agent to pay, pack and collect.
For myself, I found a few bargains to resell, but nothing to such amount of profit. Once I was in a small Church OP Shop, found a couple of small things and on the way out, standing at the counter to pay for my purchases, one lady was unpacking a box of glassware. She put an unusually patterned Genie bttle on the counter and I asked how much they want for it. She looked at me questioningly and asked; "Is $3.- to much?" I told her I'd give her $5.- for it and took it home. Listing it on eBay, I did not have much hope of making a big profit, but for me every dollar counts. It ended up selling for $158.- and I did a happy dance. This was my biggest sale on eBay.
I have not sold anything for a long time. When I get back home next month, I may start selling again, but only something worth while, as postage today kills the small value sales.

Just had a laugh from the local newspaper.
The good ladies at the Fossick and Find oppo shop in Morwell had a surprise
They were sorting out a shopping trolley of clothes and something in a pillow case started ..vibrating.
Yep you all guessed right-it wasnt an alarm clock .lol.
A spokesperson said--it was taking the term ..pre loved too far........................Richo.
