Time to move on

Every election time sees the Lib and Lab supporter on here having a go at eachother, but never before, on CS or the past CW board, have i seen it carry on and on and on after the election is over.

Its ridiculous.

Its done. Its over.

Let it go until the next election.

I don't think they do have a right to 'complain' about a number of threads on the same topic. Voice their opinion maybe, but there is no rule you can only have one thread per major topic.

From memory the OP's last few threads they authored were - complaining about  her domestic arrangements, having a stoush in a mall carpark, complaining about insurance co re bathroom vanity... negative stuff.

Well, I would rather see more political discussions than the trivia that is being posted here; but I could not be bothered to complain about those topics.  I just ignore them, do not post in  them.  It would not occur to me to start a topic saying that people should not talk about something or other.

But i prefer to discuss something that actually matters.  What is happening in Australia (and the rest of the world) in this moment matters, it will affect all of us  and the lives of our children; to say that we should not talk about it is just beyond believe.

By the way isn't it possible to create separate group here named maybe "trivia only, no politics"?  Then you can post there and let people who want to discuss wide range of topics post here.

The OP is  TELLING people not to make political threads, to move on, and not discuss it again till 3 years time.. that is different.

Thread titles can be anything they like (as long as they aren't offensive and/or against eBay rules)

It is only the LNP supporters who are carrying on  now about political threads. However, before the last election quite a few of them continually bombarded this board with vitrolic posts, c&P of blog opinions, personal attacks on anyone who disagreed with them.

If you notice a particular poster that starts threads with titles that conceal their political intent, avoid opening them.

Ok, so obviously too much to ask, since we no longer have the option to "preview" the Opening Post using the hover feature.

re the trivia only Board, there already is one, called Fun and Games.

I think supernova was suggesting starting an eBay GROUP for people who want to chat but can specify no political discussion in it.

It is a bit silly going on about what happened here 12 years ago also. Does that mean if a few new people start posting on this board in the last year or so, they shouldn't be allowed to discuss their interest (politics?) because it wasn't discussed widely here 5, 10 12 years ago on this board?

I don't see  making suggestions to stop carrying on having a go at each other, as such a bad thing.

Its certainly more constructive than continuous instructions to stay on topic.

This isn't the first thread asking people not to post political threads, it seems to have the opposite effect.  It is not possible to control conversations, waste of time.

Not ALL participants in the political threads go off topic, or make personal attacks on other posters, some do, but the rest shouldn't be bound by their behaviour.

Yes, it is a waste of time. Posters going off topic, making interpersonal comments will be dealt with on any thread, not just political ones. The majority of posters aren't involved in doing those things.

I think what DDB meant was that because of the length of time she has been posting here, she was able make comparisons, how the Board has changed.  I agreed with her (also having been here for 12 yrs) and took that as an observation.  Perhaps she finds discussing the contrast interesting?   Its not the first time we have had "now and then" discussions.
