Tokyo Olympic Games will go ahead despite coronavirus threat, IOC says, as WHO urges patience
every olympic games in recent times has had some event where some athletes were unsure would it be safe to attend
but i think this time the threat is very real
if i were an athlete regardless of years of preparing for tokyo, id be staying home.
there are places in the world where it would be considred safe, but not once the athletes from all over the world arrive and then the public.
this virus cant be seen, you dont know you have it until you have it.
bringing millions of people to a country allready under attack is folley.

Considering the speed it's spreading around the world, and the mess that America is making of it, there is a very good chance that not many people will want to fly to Japan. The USA had 3 months and they are only now starting to test people. That is after they got the infections in people who never left country or know anybody who came from China recently. To start with they produced 100 000 testing kits, before they realised these kits are not suitable to detect coronavirus. Trump keeps telling them that vaccine will be available soon, despite the fact that it will be at least a year; just let's hope it is better than the testing kits and that in meanwhile the COVID19 will not mutate. But never mind, in the USA only the rich and well insured will be able to afford it.

There is of course the option to only televise the Olympics and keep the athletes in the village only.
The television networks will need to cover the cost of live attendees. A drop in the ocean for all the world networks I'm sure.
We will at least have the Olympics, which I think is one of the greatest events on earth.
