Tony Abbot's greated TV blunders

I'm sure  ther are just as many Gillard ones that feature her pronounciation of words and dialect change, but Tony always looks like he's trying to rid a bike 1 footed when he's being interviewed.

Tony Abbott blames carbon tax for 'uncertainty'

LEIGH SALES: Have you actually read BHP’s statements?

TONY ABBOTT: No, but I’ve also got again the statement of Jacques Nasser, who says, “While we’re still evaluating the impact of the carbon tax, but it just makes it more difficult.”

LEIGH SALES: But hang on, no, no, you haven’t read their statements today, but you’re commenting about what they’ve announced today and how the Federal Government’s to blame for that.

….

LEIGH SALES: Do you – I’m asking you though, not about the Government. I’m asking: do you accept that it’s legal to come to Australia to seek asylum by any means – boat, plane – that it is actually legal to seek asylum?

TONY ABBOTT: I think that people should come to Australia through the front door, not through the back door. If people want a migration outcome, they should go through the migration channels.

LEIGH SALES: That’s an answer to the question if I asked you: how do you think people should seek asylum?, it’s not an answer to the question: is it legal to seek asylum ?

Abbott misled parliament over reading of BHP statement: AlbaneseBY:LANAI VASEK From:The Australian September 10, 2012 2:19PMIncrease Text SizeDecrease Text SizePrint

CABINET minister Anthony Albanese has written to speaker Peter Slipper suggesting Tony Abbott misled the parliament.

The Leader of the House said Mr Abbott had made inconsistent claims about whether he did or did not read a statement on the cancellation of BHP's Olympic Dam expansion before an interview with the ABC's 7.30 program.

He said the Opposition Leader "changed his story" when he thought it appropriate, and this had been a pattern of behaviour that was revealed also in David Marr's quarterly essay.

"People would be pretty familiar with Tony Abbott's train wreck of an interview with Leigh Sales on the (ABC's) 7.30 program," Mr Albanese said.

"What we have is a series of circumstances whereby Tony Abbott says one thing but when he is caught out he changes the view and tries to cover up."

Mr Abbott told the 7.30 program last month that he hadn't read BHP's statement, but the next day told parliament that he had indeed read the document at 3.45pm the day prior. His story was then corroborated by opposition treasury spokesman Joe Hockey who said he was with the Opposition Leader at the time the document was read.

Tony Abbot's greated TV blunders

"TONY ABBOTT has told voters not to believe everything he says.

In an extraordinary admission last night, the Opposition Leader said his only utterances that should be regarded as ''gospel truth'' were carefully prepared and scripted remarks such as those made during speeches or policy pronouncements.

(Not that there's been too many policies to pronounce......)

Otherwise, he indicated that statements he made during the ''heat of discussion'' such as radio interviews or under questioning at press conferences, were not necessarily reliable".

So......As it was then - 2010, so is it now...without a script, apparently you can't believe him....but then even with a script, it's hard to believe him....

Tony Abbott (and Christopher Pyne) running from Parliament to avoid accepting Craig Thomson's vote.

It should be reminded that political parties don't accept votes - Parliament accepts votes.
