PCT read the "Constitution", the legislation was doomed (in my opinion) from the beginning.
Poor little ACT, what nonsense both "sides" had equally competent teams headed by:
Commonwealth Solicitor-General, Justin Gleeson SC.
ACT Solicitor-General Peter Garrisson, SC.

Abbott did not quash the legislation, the High Court unanimously struck down the ACT law which was at odds with Constitutional law. However, there is a ray of sunshine in the court ruling, in that the court held that it would now be open to the Federal Parliament to legislate for same-sex marriages under the marriage power in the Constitution.
Yes I am watching it. Only because I want someone to jump out of their chair and grab the speaker by the throat.
