A reminder of the debt that Australia has, while Labor can bury their heads and deny it exists the fact remains we have a huge problem with debt and sooner than later the chips will fall, no business, no state and no country can keep operating in the red, eventually those we own the money to will own us. Who will own us?
The state of Qld has debt of $80 billion dollars, Labor are saying they don’t think it’s that bad, Bill Shorten on Australia’s debt, there is no debt crisis, there is a crisis and we are in this situation because of Labor, no one else and the bottom line is Labor can’t fix this problem, their speciality is creating debt not fixing debt.

THE intergenerational report will show how far the federal government has come in sorting out the budget mess it inherited from Labor, Prime Minister Tony Abbott says.

TREASURER Joe Hockey will release the intergenerational report on Thursday, a five-yearly review that outlines the challenges facing Australia over the next 40 years.

"We have a big budgetary challenge, a very big budget challenge but a very substantial start has been made," Mr Abbott told reporters on the NSW south coast.

He said the report will show where the budget would have been under Labor's policies, where his government is attempting to go and how far it has already gone.

"I'm really pleased with the very strong start this government has made to sorting out the budgetary mess we were left by out predecessors," he said.

No debt crisis in Australia but spending cuts needed, new Treasury secretary, John Fraser, says

If the Federal Government thought that the new head of the Treasury Department would be a shy and retiring type, it was wrong.

John Fraser was forthright and sometimes contradicted government policy while giving his first public address in Sydney.

He slammed the impact of tax cuts and middle class welfare on government revenue and said Australia did not have a debt crisis but did need to cut spending and reduce government debt to prevent future problems.

Mr Fraser has taken over from the outspoken Martin Parkinson, who stepped down in December after being effectively sacked by Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

He contradicted the messages from the Federal Government of a debt crisis.

"Government debt is not at crisis levels and public debt interest remains low as a share of both nominal GDP (gross domestic product) and government expenditure," he said.

"But no action to stem the growth of government debt and or any substantial rise in interest rates threaten to make net debt a bigger issue in future."

Looks like they don't have an answer to that, Vic.

Some seem to think the term "housewife" is derogatory. They come up with all sort's of alternatives, like "domestic manager" or "home economist".

I think the term "Houswife" an honorific.

It reminds me of something I read where they said " man hole cover " had to be changed to " person hole cover " because it was sexist.

Lol

I said you find me 100 ladies that will climb down into that sewer on a weekly basis
as part of the job and I"ll call i a person hole cover.

I don't see many ladies jumping at the offe.

How can Mr Parkinson have been effectively sacked?   It is a Statutory Appointment (similar to Governor General) for a set period.

True reporting is not reporting anymore.

Turnbull doesn’t have any numbers, he is waiting for Ministers and the majority to rush to him that way he will look like a knight in shining armour how wonderful. Let’s hope he’s not holding his breath.

The problem with Malcolm Turnbull is Malcolm, he is a very clever man no doubt about that and communications is his speciality and he is brilliant at that. He also has a silver tongue and there is a simple explanation for that it’s called BS.

The trouble is Malcolm is a socialist and like all good socialists they have no clue as to what the real world is like, socialists are good friends with Labor nasties and cry me a river when the nasty turns nasty.

Malcolm wants a Republic, he believes in climate change and I wonder if it has more to do with his investments in the industry than what the climate is doing.

Any person who believes throwing dollars at the UN is going to alter the climate is nothing short of a fool.

The left love Malcolm and there is a reason for that, he is more left than right, however on election day they won’t love him enough to vote for him and the brain dead first term back benchers will only learn that when they are out of a job and Labor are back in power.

Labor would crucify Malcolm the moment he became leader, the next day old Laurie Oakes would roll out the Ute gate story, followed by the ten million dollar dodgy grant and the polls on Malcolm would be back to 2009 before we could say **bleep**, people are not stupid.

I'm with you here Icy, as well as every "Leftie" in the country. With Toxic Tony at the helm the election result is already in the bag for the "Lefties" and gets better every day and every time this clown opens his mouth.
