.....mainly for his critics to leave him alone.
Mr Abbott is confident that the government will get the budget through the Senate in the end, because the alternative would be a double dissolution election.
to misquote Shakespeare: “Some men are born wise; some achieve wisdom and some have wisdom thrust upon them.”
"The man is demented and deranged because there is simply no need for most of the brutal attacks on ordinary Australian's that he proposes but I hope he does go for a DD and beg people to vote to be made even poorer than they are now while we pay for lemon fighter jets we will never use, submarines we don't need, tax concessions in the billions to mining and petrol companies, tax concessions in the tens of billions for rich superannuants, and then explain why Hockey double the deficit in 5 months so he could claim a problem.
We could cancel he and Morrisons' obsessive keep out refugees at any cost which is running at billions a year and even without benefit of law people are being found to be in need of protection.
We could make him accept a 50% pay cut and pay his own charity ride expenses instead of bludging off the taxpayers.
Already thousands of Australian's are too poor to find a home, many others have to beg to eat, others just kill themselves in despair.
Abbott is now and always has been an ignorant thug." re. comment #302
"What bring on a double dissolution and face the electorate with the policies they always intended to inflict on Australia ?
Surely Tony "No Surprises" Abbott would jump at the chance - after all he is leader of a (fast diminishing) chorus loudly proclaiming there were no lies, no broken promises. So the results of a double dissolution should hold “no surprises” for him."
re. comment#16
..."I guess we may collectively have some differences in what we want for Australia, but one thing is for sure, we all know what we don't want! We have taken a frightening look at the future where wealth and privilege rule by examining this budget and we don't like it. Often by defining what we don't want, we can help to put together the policies and programs we do want. The coalition have exempted themselves from this future vision of Australia." re. comment #1
"...My feeling is you are finished, kaput, routed, and basically xxxxed mate. So give us all a break, Tone. The double dissolution......just do it." re. comment#103
my favourite comment is last sentence in comment#26:
...."It's ironic that by trying to divide us the government may bring us together."

And he will do anything to get it.
''I remember him saying: 'Tony, I would do anything for this job. The only thing I wouldn't do is sell my **bleep**, but I'd have to give serious thought to it,''' he said.

Tony Abbott has decided that filming people committing crimes is preferable to wasting money on early intervention crime prevention so he has stripped funding from hundreds of community and charity programs. If you live in Western Sydney you will get some cameras…eventually….when we are finished announcing them… again and again and again. Unfortunately for those of you in leftie South Australia…you get nothing!
You always know politicians are desperate when they start talking about CCTV cameras on street corners. It usually happens towards the end of election campaigns, but on Friday Tony Abbott reached for this most micro of populist issues at the end of a week that left his macro budget sales pitch in tatters.

And what do you think the opposition will do?
They'll block the budget, and after a DD, they'll propose the same cuts and perks with a different name to it.
Looks like a couple of pals plotting the next move?
Tony is not the only culprit. Joe Hockey is the brains behind the budget. So what can we expect from someone who earns AU$1,000.- + a day? I bet he does not even know how much a loaf of bread costs.
Interesting reading about a multy millionaire.
No austerity in Hockey household. Just google it.
