Tony Abbott backed Pyne during IVF trauma

CHRISTOPHER Pyne has revealed Tony Abbott felt the Catholic Church's teachings on IVF were "misguided" as he provided moral support while the frontbencher and his wife were trying to conceive through the treatment.

Mr Pyne, one of Mr Abbott's closest colleagues, said the Opposition Leader was only ever "extraordinarily supportive" over the five years they underwent IVF treatments. Mr Pyne spoke out after Mr Abbott's chief of staff, Peta Credlin, revealed the Opposition Leader had allowed her to store her fertility drugs in his parliamentary fridge and cleared out his official bathroom for her use as she underwent IVF.

Now, I may be dim.... but really, Mr Abbott's personal opinions and actions in this, should not a news headline.......his Religious beliefs or otherwise do not have any place in Parliament, imo. His opposition to the Catholic Church's teachings are between him and his Church/God?

and how dare those people make it public. friends or foe?

that's 'roxon'  and all i'm having a go at at is a politically motivated puff piece. they put it out there.. after years of malicious and sexist attacks they deserve some 'treatment' and no mock-offense is going to stop it 😛

These press releases come directly from Abbott's office, and are designed to make us realise that he really, really, really does like women.

Utterly disgusting this topic and the attack from roxan and crew and the attacks on here are disgusting as well. Any one of you want to try IVF go on try it and see what its like emotionally for all concerned.

It is his side telling the country which kids were conceived using IVF.

I've been through IVF and know what it's like for all concerned.

Nothing that is written about his so called "support" etc has shifted my opinion of the pipsqueak. It is all about him trying to get women on board. ie his wife speaking out etc. We're not all as stupid as they think.

agree totally, just another ploy to try and win back his popularity and make him seem more personable.  the lnp needs another leader as does the labor party imo

This really has nothing to do with IVF....what is disgusting is the public spectacle this is.

I Know mos tof you here atm do not want to hear this but this is to counter the attack on Abbott by Roxon & the other labor females to discredit Abbot this election year.

This is a deliberate Labor election tactic so if it makes you all feel justified reading this then none of you here have the slightest idea of what is going to be a very dirty election year by Labor with these tactics.

It's all about getting re elected.

And aren't all those warm fuzzy newspaper articles - there was a mushy two full page story on it in Yesterdays SundayTimes - a deliberate Liberal tactic?  Both parties have their tame newspapers and I foresee a long summer ahead of this kind of meaningless propaganda from all sides.
