The fighter jet of my enemy's friend is....

As the story evolves, it's only going to become more and more labyrinthine.

Let's not forget some of it is media hype but that Putin is not smartest of men.
I have often thought he is fuelled by the old Russian egotistical ways thinking he needs to show strength, a little antiquated by todays standards but dangerous nevertheless.
I doubt anything will actually happen after everyone has shown their muscles.
It should fade back to focusssing on eliminating ISIL.
There is of course the theory that Turkey used it as an advantage to pay back knowing they would be seen being within their rights, rather than the ethical course of action.

They were within their rights if Russia was denied access to their airspace and then violated it. Unfortunately the obvious consequence of that was a splitting of allies against ISIS.
Russian jet pilots have (irresponsibly) been playing silly bu**ers with Norwegian airspace, with increasing frequency this year. Norway is smart enough to use diplomacy rather than "rights".
Decisions in this day and age have more extensive ramifications than an isolated incident. Putin will be making the next move, as far as his intelligence goes, I don't think he is stupid. Hopefully he will act in the interests of everyone and stand down.

Russian and Turkish forces have both released maps showing the location of the fighter jet when it was blasted out of the sky - and they don't show the same flight path.
Turkish forces shot down a Russian warplane near the Syrian border on Tuesday, saying the jet had violated its air space - a claim backed up by the image it released.
But Moscow has released their own version, which shows the SU-24 never leaving the Syrian skies.
In a letter to the U.N. Security Council, Turkey said it had shot down the jet while in Turkish air space.
Conflicting: The Turkish flight path is above, and the Russian version of events below
Along with a second plane, the aircraft had flown more than a mile into Turkey for 17 seconds, despite being warned 10 times in five minutes while approaching to change direction, the letter said.
"Nobody should doubt that we made our best efforts to avoid this latest incident. But everyone should respect the right of Turkey to defend its borders," Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said in a speech in Ankara.
But the Turkish military made no attempt to communicate with the doomed plane, Russia claims.
In a Tweet from the country’s official Ministry of Defence Twitter account, they said Ankara made no attempt at visual contact either.
The message said: “Objective monitoring data confirmed no attempts of Turkish plane to establish communication or visual contact with Rus crew.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin said the plane had been attacked when it was 1 km (0.62 mile) inside Syria and warned of "serious consequences" for what he termed a stab in the back administered by "the accomplices of terrorists".
"We will never tolerate such crimes like the one committed today," Putin said.
Does this prove that downed Russian Jet wasn't in Turkish airspace? http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/russia-turkey-war-words-after-6894340

No, they don't agree. Russia is denying entering Turkish airspace, which is why I have been careful to say "if". Nevertheless, Turkey behaved rashly and unwisely here.

Yes you're right, I had forgotten, Russia have been pushing the boundaries around Europe/Scandinavia in the last year or so and some say Russia is testing which of course doesn't help their cause.
I think Putin is placing "has to be seen to be doing something" strategic defensive manoeuvres in case there may be other incidences but feel he will let it water down over time and focus on the core reason for being there in the first place.
Let's hope so.
Turkey behaved rashly and unwisely here.
Totally agree, afterall one must say, What can one Russian jet really do against a country? and Turkey should have erred on the side of caution.

We'll see what tomorrow brings. An eye to the bigger picture hopefully. Have a nice evening, Kopes.

I know many people think they know everything there is to know and cannot learn.
6 years ago almost I did a detailed study on the Great Prymaid of Giza .This along with a lot of other things point clearly to 2016.
Sir Isaac Newton did a book on prophecy(actually he wrote more on Prophecy than science) and he came to 2016.
I worked out the periods in Daniel to mean the key year is 2016.
Dont get too attached to this world. It is about to be destroyed just as it's maker said He would do,.

world, I appreciate your thoughts as possibilities, however one must look at likely and unlikely scenarios.
The USA government is NOT arming anyone. As for private enterprise selling arms that is another story.
I just wish people wouldn't make general claims based on media info that has very little basis for facts.
This is one of the problems in Australia, we have so many armchair experts creating unnecessary panic amongst public.
As for the rest of the post, I only hope you have the ability to realize that one's mind can play tricks by associating certain details and not seeing the whole picture, can eliviate any unnecessary concerns you may have.
Nature is very powerful and this world WILL live on.

World if you are truely correct and the end of the world is nigh then you will also share the fate of those you vilify , as the bible states that it is the meek who shall inherit the earth, you can not claim to be the meek while happily gloating over the death of millions of of your fellow humans , just something to contemplate
