US pandemic #2

Seems like there is another pandemic of sorts just making it's presence felt now in continental USA . I am wondering how they will handle this insect contagion

Is serious because they wipe out whole populations of bees in quick time by decapitating the hapless victim and without bees no natural pollinating , reduced agriculture output

Also we in Australia should be on the alert - although i do not know how they could have survived a sea cargo trip from Asia to America - although via AIr would be feasible....

From an article I read a little while ago, the bees have more to worry about from the idiots insecticiding anything that remotely looks like a hornet/bee/wasp because the press have whipped up fear of these "murder hornets" within the amazingly gullible populace.

Sorry, I tried to find the link again but it was on fb and it's near impossible to find links there unless you have shared or saved them and I didn't.

Don't worry I believe you. Smiley Wink

One wonders how bees are going to survive.  There's a huge difference in the appearance of bees compared to the giant wasps which are about 4 times bigger.  But as you say so many many gullible idiots around ........   oh hang on, I said that.  Man Very Happy

"Since the hornets made the U.S. news, Looney has been inundated by emails from concerned Americans who think they’ve seen the insect. In response, he stresses that only two sightings of the Asian giant hornet have been confirmed in the U.S.—and that people who think they’ve seen it in eastern North America are likely confusing it with the European hornet (Vespa crabro), which looks similar but is less aggressive and dangerous.

“If people east of the Mississippi see something like that, they shouldn't assume it's an Asian giant hornet,” he says. “It's almost certainly not.” - National Geograpgic.
