Vexed Vax Jabs Charted over Time in Database: Don't be k1oooless!

I was going to title this topic COVID vaccination rates and opening up at 80% (by the numbers) . . . but went with the one suggested by countess on another thread.

Please note that I am not starting this thread for the discussion of COVID vaccination, making vaccination mandatory or the pros/cons of vaccination.

This thread is also not for posting about 'early stage treatments' for COVID.  I may well report any such posts for being off-topic if they are made.

I won't be posting arguments for or against vaccination, just the numbers and percentages that will drive the easing of restrictions.

The intention of this thread is to provide an analysis of the figures that I haven't been able to find elsewhere.  It is for me to post screengrabs of an Excel spreadsheet that shows the double dose percentages that will become crucial in opening up the country.

I will prepare a spoiler so that members can see how the spreadsheet numbers are calculated.   The spoiler will also note the source I use for spreadsheet preparation.

If anyone notices any errors in my calculations or screengrabs then please let me know.

Vexed Vax Jabs Charted over Time in Database: Don't be k1oooless!

What are we to make of WA? Many people are dying in the other major States. Is WA trying to ride this out wrongly, or are the deaths acceptable, given the other priorities in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA?

Vexed Vax Jabs Charted over Time in Database: Don't be k1oooless!

I don't think the deaths in NSW and VIC in particular are acceptable. Some very minimal and sensible measures were lifted right at the time when Omicron raced in like a gang of thugs. It's all very well for politicians to minimise those deaths and crow about how well we're doing, but when the measure of how well we're doing is that we're not seeing outcomes projected by modelling that has had to take into account the waving away of QR checking in, mask-wearing, and social distancing... well... what can I say?

WA will probably see deaths occurring, but as always, hospitalisations lag behind cases numbers by about two weeks, and deaths generally lag still further. WA does have high vaccination levels for the 16+ cohort, but we already know that two doses are not enough to stop Omicron. At least the vaccination levels will lower the % of severe illness, hospitalisation and death.

The hospital and health sector resources in WA are, I suspect, just not robust enough to prevent bad outcomes for a whole range of patients requiring attention, once Omicron weighs down the hospitals and places what might be the straw on the camel's back with regard to those in the medical profession in WA. We'll see, I suppose.
