I was going to title this topic COVID vaccination rates and opening up at 80% (by the numbers) . . . but went with the one suggested by countess on another thread.
Please note that I am not starting this thread for the discussion of COVID vaccination, making vaccination mandatory or the pros/cons of vaccination.
This thread is also not for posting about 'early stage treatments' for COVID. I may well report any such posts for being off-topic if they are made.
I won't be posting arguments for or against vaccination, just the numbers and percentages that will drive the easing of restrictions.
The intention of this thread is to provide an analysis of the figures that I haven't been able to find elsewhere. It is for me to post screengrabs of an Excel spreadsheet that shows the double dose percentages that will become crucial in opening up the country.
I will prepare a spoiler so that members can see how the spreadsheet numbers are calculated. The spoiler will also note the source I use for spreadsheet preparation.
If anyone notices any errors in my calculations or screengrabs then please let me know.

Interesting stat re the patients hospitalised., where it states that only 7% are vaccinated.
I would also be interested to know how many of those in ICU have been fully vaccinated.
The 7% vaccination rate is particularly stark when you consider that Vic now has a population where 86% have had at least one dose and over 60% have had both.
I think it is relevant to use the stats for over 16's because so few under 16's are ending up in hospital with covid.

Some of the information can't be released, springyzone, as it is protected by patient confidentiality. I have to be careful to source the data I post, not only from that perspective, but also from the perspective of not wanting to assert something to which I can't provide publicly available data.
Anyway, here is today's information.

I'm impressed by ACT stats. 97.5% of people there have had their first dose. (75.9% second dose).

I get my fully - for NSW - domani.
That's a plus 2.

The increasing divide between NSW and Aust without NSW may be due to fast turnaround in administering second dose. At the height of the NSW outbreak they had 6 weeks between Pfizer jabs to make more vaccine available for first dose. They recently dropped that back to the recommended 3 weeks, hence the widening gap in the double dose percentage.
It may be that when NSW hits 80% double dose (about 150,000 more 2nd doses) the gap will be near 20%

Victoria's also gone back to recommending the 3-week interval for Pfizer, but I understand from several sources that appointments are perceived as being too hard to change. It's actually not difficult... but perception becomes reality.
Yes, NSW is charging ahead.

the 3 week gap between Pfizer doses does have the effect of rapid increase in 2nd dose percentage.
That may well see a 20 percentage point divide narrow very quickly come November once NSW figures slow down due to high 2nd dose percentage.
