Violence Against Women: The Left and Socialists Say Yes
In a staggering display of misogyny, left wing protesters at the University of Sydney physically attacked Julie Bishop earlier today, the minister narrowly escaping serious physical harm by the quick-response of her security detail.
Sydney University Students’ Representative Council Education Officer, Ridah Hassan and National Union of Students NSW Education Officer Chloe Rafferty appeared to take credit for the attack. Unconfirmed reports further state that Tom Raue, a member of the Greens and Vice-President of the University of Sydney Student Union, was also heavily involved in the incident.
The Sydney University Student Union, SRC and the National Union of Students are supported financially through the compulsory student unionism introduced by the previous Labor Government.

Mr Pyne called on Opposition Leader Bill Shorten to join him in condemning the students' actions.
"I'm calling on Bill Shorten today to come out today and make it very clear that he does not endorse in any way the students' behaviour and that he condemns it in exactly the same terms that I have condemned it on behalf of the Government."
Shadow treasurer Chris Bowen has questioned why Mr Pyne has sought to drag the Labor Party into the issue.
"Seriously, Christopher Pyne needs to grow up. There's no place for violent protest in Australia, but violent protest is the fault of violent protesters," Mr Bowen said.
"But for Christopher Pyne and the Liberal Party to try and score political points out of this is nothing short of pathetic."
Police say no arrests have been made but they are investigating the incident.
Seriously, Ms Bishop was smiling, it looks to me like the people surrounding her were doing the touching and the jostling, the ones dragging her through there. I would say there were a few other people who could claim to be assaulted.

as I've said elsewhere, it's been a very long time since we've seen these kind of protests in Aus. and sadly i suspect that there will be more as the disatisfaction with this govt. grows.
