Just curious but.....if you remove religion from Christmas, and let's be honest here, there is very little religion involved for many people, what exactly is Christmas for? We spend a ridiculous amount of money, we eat a ridiculous amount of food and (certainly in my case) we drink a ridiculous amount of alcohol. I could add loads more to the ridiculous list but spending, eating and drinking is enough, so what's it all for? Why every bloody year do we stand in endless queues in shops, why do we write Christmas cards to people we haven't seen for 10 years (thankfully), why do we rack our brains to think of a present to buy for Aunt Bertha (because we have to buy some bloody thing), why do we do this year after year after bloody year. All we (well me anyway) end up with is high blood pressure and an extra stone weight on my hips. It's so damn stressful. I'll be glad when it's all over till next year.
