I recently returned a pair of crutches to the local hospital which took some time and effort (not complaining) to be told they don't want them back as they are used. These crutches were used for 2 days and although i respect that some may and I stress MAY be returned in bad condition those which are returned in pristine condition should be cleaned and re-used. Crutches and other similar items may cost in excess of $50 to provide so why not use them again where possible ?

And maybe not enough to be get seriously annoyed over? - the OP didn't have a wasted journey if she managed to dump the crutches at the hospital.

replying to OP.....apaols as have not read all posts......so might be repeating info already provided.
Anways, ref WA, am in a major regional city....last time we needed crutches for a family member, prob 2 yrs ago....the hosp would not provide any. We were told to go to a local/independent 'shop' that provides (purchase/hire) aides....w/chairs etc. Had to pay a hefty deposit and a hire fee (min hire of 1-2 wks from memory). Quality was OK,condition fair.
Had to get the injured family member home w/out crutches to hop around til place opened the next morning......
