WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Pleased with this. Used 2 eliminators. Was tempted to start guessing from #2 but glad I didn't as the extra letter placement really helped.

I actually found this one of the easiest I have done for a while, although the score doesn't reflect that because my third try (for #6) was still helpful but round the wrong way so I didn't start solving till turn 4.

I wasn't going to post the results but today's game has an interesting word in it. 

 I left word 2 till last as I could see a few possibilities. Sure enough, after solving the 8th word, I thought I had it narrowed down and felt fairly sure of the answer, but I was wrong.

The correct answer is a word I have heard before in relation to geography but I hadn't heard of the other meanings (which I looked up after solving it).

Grrr! This took me a while to start unravelling. TRACE and SPIKY were my starter and 2nd row eliminator. I used another eliminator (FLING) at row 7, as I came to a grinding halt and needed some more letters to slot into place.

I started with TRACE; no joy.

I then played DOILY; all right, now we’re cooking… Knowing where one letter was and where another letter was NOT, one word above all seemed sprang to the fore.

The LH word could have been one of two possibilities. (First letter was the issue.) So… my row 3 word had to be an eliminator designed to determine between the two PLUS flush out more of the letters for the RH letters.

In the event, it gave me only one more letter for the RH, but it ruled out other letters and left me with a very strong contender for the answer.
