WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Back to normal today.

The first word I tried (which you can probably guess) was of limited use. The second, a bit better.

Although I only had a couple of letters for #1, that was the first one I really solved (in my head), because of the positioning of one of the vowels.

After my second word, I didn't have much to go on but the answer did pop into my head as in 'the octordal answer would be....' but I went with my 3rd word to try to narrow it down as there were several other possibilities.

Bot tells me my second word choice was 'wonderful' but my third not his fav. 

I felt as if the 3rd solved it but he tells me it was out of two remaining possibilities.

I don't know what the other one could be. 
I could think of corgi but it obviously can't be that, after my 3rd shot. What other word do you think he had in mind? Honestly, sometimes ignorance is bliss.

Re octordle: It was ironic as after 2 turns, I looked at the 6th word along and immediately thought of that word a couple of days ago, the one where I mentioned it could be an anagram (adobe or abode) but they always prefer adobe.
This word had a & o in place and a yellow e. Immediately I  suspected it wouldn't be adobe as that came out too recently. But I know they don't seem to like abode for some reason. So that made my choice clearer.
Never mind, they covered something similar to abode in the last word. That's another fav of theirs.

It was happy enough with my starter, TRACE. However, it insisted that LIONS would have been a more efficient 2nd row eliminator. All very well, but that ignores gut instinct. 

My eliminator was sufficiently efficient to allow me to guess the answer; the bot did no better, so I pfffffft in its general direction!

Re the other possibility in your results… word starting with B, I believe.

TRACE and SHINY were my starter and 2nd row eliminator respectively. I struck it lucky with my 4th row; I played an eliminating word, not thinking it would actually be one of the solutions… but it was.

However, the word I’d contemplated using instead (one letter’s difference) would have been more useful for the remaining words.

Just didn't pop into my mind at all yesterday though, which is lucky as he wasn't the answer.😁

Love your dordle poem. Yes, some of the puzzles are a bit of a fraudle at times.🤣

Unfortunately, after my first word in wordle, there were still 226 possibilities left.😱

I didn't know that at the time, but I did know I needed more to work with.

Unfortunately, I didn't get a lot from my second & third words either (except as elimination).

I just feel relieved to have solved it in 5, to be frank!
