I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Apparently 235 possibilities left after my first turn.
Bot was pleased with my second word as it narrowed it down to 6, so he said.
I had no idea actually, I thought there would be a lot more than that, so used a 3rd eliminator, which did the trick.

Well, I got there at least! Just took me a while to get going, couple of wrong guesses.

This one had me puzzled so I needed a 3rd word to narrow it down.
I thought-don't just do the usual one, be more like countess, cannily try to work out possible answers and use an eliminator that has as many of the contending letterss as possible.
So I started a list. Some I was pretty sure couldn't be it (plurals, which we know Bot loathes)
But I got myself in such a tangle as there seeemd to be so many different letters that I gave up and just used my usual 3rd word, after all. Thankfully, it helped a lot!
But I don't know if I am mad or if Bot is. When I went to look at his comments later, he said that my second word was a good choice as it narrowed it down to only 7 words.

I was surprisingly lucky with my eliminator, particularly as I more frequently use it or similarly structured words on the 3rd row if needed. On this occasion I played it on the 2nd row and it gave the whole thing away.

My starter wasn’t highly illuminating, and the 2nd row eliminator gave me no more than 2 words before it conked out of steam. I was forced to use another eliminator.

CATER and SPINY - I could guess the RH word from that, and the LH word subsequently.

It’s the yellow letter in my 2nd row eliminator that told me what the first letter must be. That left me only one possibility for letter № 2. Ah, the pleasure of seeing a cunning strategy play out!
