I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

TRACE was my starter, and my eliminator revealed all that I needed. In a way, it was too simple; I didn’t feel that I needed to work at this at all.
Looking at your Wordle, springyzone, that final letter was such an unlucky one not to have!

Yes, in retrospect, I should have used crypt as 3rd guess (as I sometimes do) and I would have been better off.

I could start solving with row 2, up until row 7 – although 2L was a nice bit of inspired guessing as I had only the final two letters as well as a yellow. 4R was easy enough except for deciding which of two letter possibilities would be the last letter of the word.
4L - I had the shape of it, and it was a choice of two for the initial letter.
But after that, I found myself stuck. I played an eliminator - BLOWY - and that gave me just enough to solve 3R.
There was only 2R left. With so many letters ruled out, it probably meant that Octordle was pulling the old “using a letter twice” trick (as Maxwell Smart would have said), as well as using one of the unused letters.
Done.

As Bot said, phew!
That 4th word was an eliminator, just to help cut down on possibilities.

I was pleased enough with this, considering I had not a clue till turn 4.
Or too many clues. The one that I held back on most was #4 (2R) as a word occurred to me almost immediately, but there was a possible alternative & the way was not clear till after I solved #1.

TRACE and then DOUGH - I knew the shape and it was just that initial letter that was up for guessing.
I made my guess based on knowing Wordle’s sneaky mind.

TRACE followed by SPIKY. That gave me 4 yellows for 3R, and I could guess the shape and the final letter.
I could also guess 4R, mostly because one yellow was not at the end of the word.
2R - well, it couldn’t be much else by now!
2L - I’d ruled out other possibilities.
1R - I had the initial letter and 3 yellows; it wasn’t too hard to solve.
1L - I’d already ruled out the most likely initial letter, so I moved to the next most likely.
3L and 4L - they were a matter of adding the most likely letters as each needed just one additional letter.

Seven is okay but at the same time it’s annoying. My starter was TRACE, followed by BOUGH. I could make my first guess at 2R, and then 1R, but my guess for 2L was off by one letter. I recovered after that misstep, but 7 was the best I could achieve from that point onwards.

Better. TRACE gave me enough for a first solution, although I needed an eliminator - PUDGY - at row 4.
