I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

The thing that helped me most was getting 2 positioned letters in the first couple of turns.

The word list seems to have had some short colloquialisms added to it.
The various word game sites seem to have changed their game plan. I've noticed a few colloquialisms and some verb forms that have crept in that in the past you could pretty much count on not being used.
These days you can't rule anything out, I guess. The wordle unlimited site seems to be very much that way.

Now this dordle has me quite annoyed. I was not going to bother posting the 'share' on here but I was taken aback to see the result for word #2. Not AGAIN, was my first thought.
This word was a controversial choice from about a month back but was on wordle, not dordle.
I just looked something up online. There are 12,478 five letter words in English. Give or take, I would imagine.😁
Even if you deleted the obscure ones, there should be enough left to keep us going for a few years without repeats, let alone having to have a repeat within a month.
Are all these word game sites connected? I am starting to see other word repeats popping up too.😕

Exactly, springyzone. It reminds me of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency ("interconnectedness of all things").
Here is today's Wordle.

(Almost impossible to get this in fewer turns, unless one were to make wild and amazingly correct guesses.)

I was reading an interesting thing online about wordle & it's offspring.
It basically said there are 3 types of players. The random guess & see where it leads type, the meticulous type who start with the best leader word they can and then use each and every exposed letter in their following guesses and the 'whittle it down' type who use their first 2 or 3 guesses to cover as many of the most used letters of the alphabet as possible, before settling down to solve it. They don't care if it means using a word that they know definitely won't be 'it'. and playing this way will usually mean they are unlikely to solve it in 2 etc
The article did list some of what they term the best starters but can't say they are my starters at all. But I do tend to fall more into the 3rd category of player.😁
