WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

I went a bit rogue again. I was trying to figure out what it could be and what letters in shout might go with it.

For some reason, I felt the O would be in there, so I just went with my first fancy and decided I'd use another eliminator after it if it didn't work out.

I have to say octordle really makes you work hard for a lower score.

I didn't use the second eliminator till turn 4, yet it only shaved 2 off the score of 52 (if you manage to get through all of them after the first 2 words).

Yet dare to use 3 eliminators in a row and boom, up to about 60.

I took a risk on turn 3 but I thought salon would be the more likely answer.
By turn 4, I needed (or I felt I did) another eliminator but of course some letters in shout had already been out. I wanted to cover T and U and R if possible. I thought truck or trump. In hindsight, trump would have been fractionally more useful, but too bad, done now.
On the whole, I was pleased with how this went today.

I had hoped to do better but there wasn't anywhere I could see that was a definite one answer only spot after my first 2 turns.
I used pudgy as 3rd eliminator as I suspected P might be in some words (eg #5 optic maybe and #3 price, pride, prime although crime grime possible too)
After that, I didn't make any silly mistakes but the damage was done of course, score wise.

This worked out well. I was able to gather just enough information to be able to guess each word, with just enough luck to feel satisfied.

Once I’d played lingo, 2R could only be brunt, and 1R could only be corny. With R confirmed as not being in 3rd place, 3L had to be rival. By now, it was obvious that 4R must be pique, which gave me prose for 3R. Finally… 2L had nowhere else to go but to hazel.

Quite lucky with all this as one word led to the next.
Afoul seems to be having a run, doesn't it? Flavour of the month.
I was lucky on my last guess. I was tossing up parka or parry but parry was what i first thought of, so went with it.
Expected parka to probably be it though so had a pleasant surprise.

I was quite pleased with myself with my first few guesses, and thought, aha, I see they are trying out a few of the less commonly used letters today.
Then I fell into the trap of viral/rival. I think I was caught in something similar a week or so ago.
Had a lucky break on my last turn-grunt/brunt. Felt brunt was a little more unusual so went with it.

but at that stage, the answer could easily have been something like haunt, stand, sonar or sauna and so on & I felt it was better to know where I was with all the vowels too.
