WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-26/why-wordle-has-become-a-new-online-obsession/100782794

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

It's funny  how a word can come to mind, I have had it happen to me too sometimes.

I've been looking at your first turn and trying to figure out what words I would have jumped to.

My first thought was threw and then tiger or tiler or timer but then, maybe tuber. I was all over the place, no idea what eliminator I would have come up with. Maybe guild, which would not have got me far, except for elimination.

I did do wordle yesterday on my phone.

I know I would have started with alien, so I would have had e in position.

Then I would have gone for shout.

That would have given me yellow O and T

Ah, it comes back to me now.

Third word was voter. No idea why that was my first thought.😣

Then after that, tower.

It was much easier today, having the first and last letters in green.

I did do this on the phone yesterday (which I loathe to have to do as I can't see the whole screen at once). I forget my score (it was in the 50s somewhere) but I recall thinking the exact same as you about those words!

I really don't know what was wrong with me, I didn't play this game well.
My first thought for #2 was innate but it won't fit. Even so, I tried inate because... American, so who knows? But it seems they spell it as we do. Wonders will never cease.

I never thought of inane at that point so went with shout. THEN I thought of inane.

But why I went for spoon #3 next (very small risk admittedly as sporn unlikely in the classic I think) when #8 was a shoo in, I do not know.
Same with solving #1 before #6, which had been solved.

As it turns out, all was well but I really should look along the row a bit more carefully before I focus on one spot to solve.

Then I used the wrong elimiator at the end. I was in a dilemma-wound, found, bound and chose of all things badge. Then woke up it was F I wanted in it, not G & I already knew the D would be there. I was annoyed with myself over that one.

Spoon was a nice piece of luck; it could have been sworn or scorn or swoon.

You had #5 in the bag as well at that point: very nicely set up!

That last word was a mean little bit of trickery from Octordle, but at least you solved it in the next row. 🏆
