WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

This wasn't too bad. There were a few places where I would initially have thought the answers might be different but luckily they sorted themselves out as I went along.

Spoiler
13 12 cl.pngThe frustration with this game was #7 as right from the start, I thought it was smash/swash & I was thinking at one stage I might need an eliminator but I soldiered on.

😂I was lucky with this one as I was on totally the wrong track for #7 and got a surprise at the end as it virtually solved itself with a word I had not even considered. Not that it is an unusual word, I just had not thought of it.

Spoiler
13 12 ex.pngThe game of the double letters!

Towards the end, I was torn.
#5 gawky or gabby. I leaned towards gawky and almost just went for it but it has had a bit of a run and I wondered if they may want to ring the changes.
#7 I had down as tatty, batty, fatty (unlikely, but you never know)

I felt I needed to sort out b/f at least. And it would have been deeply satisfying to also include W or K but I couldn't think of anything with bfw or bfk, so I just went with bumfs.

Aha, I was right, they were not recycling gawky today. I got a big surprise after that to see what came up in #7.

Spoiler
12 12 cl.pngYou should solve on turn 2 with this one. I started off like that as well but mid way, wasn't game to guess so went with curdy as eliminator.
Probably just as well as I had been half inclined to just go for tally for #2 and I thought #1 might be moody or woody.
Even at the end for #5, I had trouble deciding between comet and covet.

I’ve said this before, and I’ll repeat it as needed – Octordle unjustly punishes players for using a second eliminator.

Well, at least I was consistent today!

Spoiler
12 12 ex.pngI solved it all eventually but it took me a while.
Again, I felt I needed another eliminator half way through and went with pricy.
I had almost been going to just go for drain for #7 but then I thought of gamin and this is the extreme, so i held off.
I was looking at #6 at the end, thinking, it has to be candy, no, it can't be candy. Took a while till the penny dropped.😂

I think you may have been able to solve #1 instead of using the second eliminator. But it’s always tricky when one just isn’t sure.
