WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-26/why-wordle-has-become-a-new-online-obsession/100782794

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

🟨🟨🟨 PICON
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 TUNIC

After TRACE, I knew it must be TO_IC or TU_IC or - unlikely, but possible - T_CK_… topic, tonic, toxic, tunic, ticky: I could rule out ticks or tucks or tocks because of Wordle’s aversion to plurals and present tense verbs ending in S.

I needed an eliminator to settle the issue of the vowels and also to rule on the possibility of N and P. I used PICON.

After that, there was only one possible answer.

After turn 2 I had 4 letters, but my first instincts were that it had to be unite or maybe unlit but I could see those were impossible. Was very disappointed. Had to tell myself to try different letters as starters.

Had to use another eliminator at turn 6 (used pervy) and I am glad I did.
I had #5 pegged as most likely relay, so I just as well I waited. It also helped to clear the way for the rest.

I got lucky with two greens on line 1.

After that, there were only 2 words it could be.  I guessed correctly 😁

I almost went for the “let’s try a word with A and E in it to sort out whether it’s an _A_E_, an _E_A_ or an _EA__” approach but it seemed likely I’d be on a 4 or 5 row journey if I did.

WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I had been looking at tee shirts for a Halloween outfit I am going to make.  So my line 1 was one of the colours I looked at just 5 mins before taking on Wordle,  WHITE

Only one possible word after my opener.

The day before, I watched a documentary about planet Earth.  When I was getting ready to go to bed, I did Wordle.  Line 1 was EARTH.  Left only EAGLE and EASEL.  I chose wisely.

I don't do set starters.  Whatever comes to mind at the time is good enough for me.
