WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

8 cl.jpgIn a past life, I would have thought hoody for #1 but these days, I know better.
I was going round in circles at the end with #6. The only word I kept thinking of was rabid but I I could see there was no D. Then I realised i was not in 4th spot either. The fog cleared.

8 ex.jpgI had no strong leads after my first turn. I live in hope, but it rarely happens I can confidently solve anything at that point, so with a shrug of the shoulders, I went on to my usual second word, shout.

Immediately, #2 hit me with stand/stank. For unknown reasons, I fancied stank. Not that I love the word, but this is the extreme so i figured they might try to be tricky.
But my run of luck didn't last.
On turn 5, I tried tardy for #6. Silly me, it was their old favourite, ratty.

It is lucky I solved #4 when I did as I had #1 tagged as likely to be group next.

This felt as though it had to be very carefully played.

I had actually considered HOUND as the eliminator. Ah well… even though SHOGI wasn’t tremendously effective, it was just enough – which is all one can ask, really.

With 4R, 3R and 1L being uncertain and needing either guesses or eliminators, I came to 1R and 2L without any confidence. IR was either STAND or STANK; 2L was BREAD, BREAK, FREAK, WREAK, or DREAD.

I decided to play BREAK which – if incorrect – would at least rule upon bread, break, dread for 2L (leaving me with only freak or wreak if there was no B but there was a K; with bread if there was a B but no K; with dread if there was neither B nor K), and of course it would settle the question of 1R as well.

BREAK was incorrect but it gave me the information I’d intended. 54 was the best I could do.

I feel your pain with #6. I hadn’t included your guessed word into my list of possibles because of the 1st position of that letter (first letter of your guess) being ruled out  there… but it still left me with three possible words.

At least you had good fortune with #2 and #3.
