WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

14 cl.pngI was stuck when it came to turn 3, hit a real road block of indecision. In the end though, I decided to concentrate on #4 because there were 4 letters out inclunding the starter letter, so I felt I had some chance.
They all unravelled okay after that.
The surprise of the day (for me) was #8, as I had initially pegged it as likely to be theme or there (fancied theme).

I felt it was worth taking a risk for turn 2.
It could of course have been flier, plied. But they just had flyer in the classic and plied-less likely.
Several of the words I feel are just rehashes from past games. Bluer, tulle, cutie.

The battle of the initial letters - grrr.
Spoiler

MOUND 💣

POUND 🎯🍀 could still have been wound

Flunk/plunk - a real dilemma. Either F or P would also work for 1A (found/mound/pound/wound). It was blind chance.

That left me with 1A. At least it was now down to three choices. Unluckily I chose mound and it bombed.

Suspect the other way round and you tried pound when it was mound.

Yes! Exactly. 😳🤭

I suspected the word pattern and concentrated on the consonants.

With A and E ruled out, and R definitely not in 2nd position, I decided to focus on the vowels O and U, as roughly 17 (very rough calculation) “I” and “R” words seem to have I following R - frill, bring, etc (_RI__) - which rules them out. Another 17 or so are still ruled in (quirk, rhino, vigor/rigor, robin, rigid, smirk, whirl etc.) I could see I’d be ruling out or confirming more with OU than OI in this instance.
