We haven't had a debate about noisy, disruptive kids for a while

I was at the doctors yesterday and there were 2 children, probably about 6/7 and 3/4, who were so noisy and disruptive, it was dreadful.  Mum kept shushing them but was pretty ineffective and was actually just adding to the chaos anyway.  I was okay because I was just there for a script but some people who looked sick seemed quite distressed.

The reception staff tried to quieten them with offers of stickers if they would be good etc but that only lasted a few moments.

Would you have said/done anything? and if so, what?

I was in a waiting room for approx 2 hrs a couple of days ago to see a specialist.  The was one out of control child.  The mum did try all she could.  Eventually, an older lady said something to the child in a really scary, loud voice.  Not sure what it was as I dont speak Arabic but whatever it was, it worked Laugh.gif   The mum was most appreciative.

Had one similar to that once, feral kid out of control running around and touching everyone, said a few words in a raised voice and he went very quiet and sat by mum without moving again.

parents if you cant control your kids please leave them at home in their cages

No iza.  I have come across this family before, not just at the doctors.  They are well known around town and this is regular behaviour.  Mum is a very loud, extemely vocal woman as well.  The staff in the supermarket cringe when they come in.

In that case, I would avoid any confrontations.

thats why these sorts believe they can get away with it, no one ever challenges them

As I said, I was okay.  I just sat there and read my book.  I wasn't brave enough, nor thought it was up to me,  to confront her.  I did feel sorry for the really sick people there.   Some of them looked quite distressed.

Poor kids actually.  They really don't seem to have much of a chance.  It's a bit sad really.

is it worth taking the risk though?    you simply cannot reason with some people.

Noisy kids don't usually worry me, but if I was feeling sick I'd mention the annoyance to the receptionist. Perhaps the family would see the dr more quickly to get rid of them.

Screaming, shouting kids in dr's waiting rooms are a pet peeve of mine. I don't mind it when I'm just getting a script, but when I've been sick ITYKWIM?

If I was sick, I would've approached reception and asked to wait for my appointment in a quiet room. Then I would quietly let the other sick patients know to wait in the other room also.

You could be right Meep.  I remember one time when I had a toddler that was so sick with gastro and I had him at the doctors because it had gone on too long and his temperature was high.

I was praying that he would vomit all over the place so that we wouldn't wait so long and I could get him back home to bed. He didn't though.

The doctor diagnosed him with an ear infection so I took him straight to emergency at the hospital and they helped him with a Tony Abbot dose of panadol because he couldn't keep anything down orally.  Silly doctor.
