Wow thanks boris I had no idea. So maybe it's not classed as wood then.
Anybody who suggests that a banskia cone is not wood should take a good look at some of the absolutely magnificent objects which can be created from them with a lathe and little ingenuity. You wouldn't have thought it possible.
