Icy and Lurker, Whilst driving yesterday there was a car flashing its headlights behind me for quite a while. Then the indicators had their "turn"
I started to slow down to pull aside.
Then I noticed his wipers started washing his windscreen. It became obvious that the driver was was not used to the car.

Can one of the Americans here answer for me.
For the left-hand drive vehicles, which position is the brake pedal and the accelerator?
My reason for asking, is that a few "old" drivers have had serious consequences by using the wrong pedal whilst parking.

i don't drive, but i'll ask hubby when he comes home for lunch,in case nobody pops in before then.
i believe that the gas pedal is far riht, with brakes in the middle, and clutch on the left( if we have a clutch),gear shift is in between the 2 front seats.

In the US, the gas pedal is on the right and the brake to the left of that. We are supposed to use the right foot for both pedals, but a lot of people use their left foot to brake. If we have a standard transmission, the clutch is to the far left with the brake pedal in the middle.
As to the discussion of silverware. I used to always keep my knives on the far left, then forks in the middle and spoons on the right. In my new two-layer silverware drawer, I keep the knives to the back. All the odd pieces go in the bottom.

Ironing is a foreign activity for me, something I've managed to avoid for the past 40 something years, but now hubby has gone and got a real job I had to drag the iron out from the depths of junk cupboard and put it into service. Last night I went out to the other end of the house to iron hubbys uniform and found the iron was already on. The last time I ironed was sunday night 😞 oops.

LOL i'm with you mate, the iron and I are how should I say.... estranged 😮
I've done more ironing since selling clothes on ebay (bout 2 years) than I've done in my whole life lol

i put my iron in the cabinet under the sink when we moved in here 20 years ago.completely forgot about it.
a few months ago i was preparing to install new shelves in that cabinet, and WAY at the back was the iron. rusted to the cabinet floor.
apparently when my porcelain sink sprung a leak and i had the stainless steel one installed, water i didn't see got back there, lol!
i had to chisel the wood under it out and replace the cabinet bottom. and i did NOT buy a new iron, lol!
